1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. But sadly a long time since any of these have happened.

Could this also be added to the drop-down list of interactions that appears when you hover over an avatar in your Friends list?

Anyway, here's semi-challenge on V-Day for Rumplators to post a link to their favorite stories in the Love Story category here at LUSH. Feel free to mention why you picked the story. While there are, of course, no stinkin' rules, I'd strongly suggest you post the link to a story written by another LLush writer. To help jog your memory, go to the category list, click on 'Love Stories' then the 'Popular' link. Any will do but there's a whole hot of Rumplators on that one.

I'm credited as a co-author on this one, but I promise I had no part in writing it. It's just my voice you'll hear if you fancy the audio version.

it used to be my personal info was on the left and my blog and stories were on the right. two different columns. now it's all one column so i have to go all the way to the bottom to find my blog and stories, if that makes any sense? could be something i did, but if it is, i have no idea what, since i didn't actually do anything. smile

It's fine for me. Are you on a mobile device?

fyi, now my profile pages - mine and friends i am looking at - are messed up.

In what way?

You prove my point; sounds to me like maybe people should focus more on the leadership of their own (apparently) miserable countries than harping on America all the time. A little more thought and effort focused inward might alleviate some of the abhorrent "conditions" you reference.

Miserable and abhorrent are your words. Conditions are pretty good in Scotland, and a poll published last month shows that 72% of the population is satisfied with our leader's performance. So we can probably afford a bit of focus and sympathy for those living in countries with idiotic leaders, like yourself.

Intolerance and simply not giving a shit are hardly the same thing. I don't give a flying fuck about the politics and leadership of your country because I don't have to live under whatever idiocy they might come up with.

Nothing says respect like not giving a shit about the conditions under which other people live because it doesn't directly affect you.

And BTW, I respond only out of respect for you, as I really don't give a crap what anybody from other countries thinks of our politics or our political leaders and generally just ignore them. In the parlance of the old breakfast joke, you're not only not the pig, you're not even the chicken

Nothing says respect like intolerance for foreigners.

Oh please! Dangerous territory to tread considering that this moron has given us countless hours of material:

Jesus, take a day off. We've got enough bloody threads about which old white guy is the worst. Just have a laugh at the funny videos.

Does your new president being an idiot mean your old one wasn't? Seems to be America's type.

Last call! Not at Rumps, at the Stories Space competition(s). There's a terrific last minute entry from clum that's worth a look.

https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/flash-fiction/-paper-.aspx

And, of course, there's still time for more. Submit them if you got them. And if you want some good reading today, come on over. We got lots. Details, including links to all three comps, are in the following thread.

It's great not having to do my own self-promotion. Cheers, mate.

I'm not sure how this helps? Will the Category story hover in undisplayed limbo until the Display date? If not, then gaming the system with a mess of posts will get you longer prominence in the top spot. Mine posted this morning and I'm now fifth down in the list (not counting the Test), much more likely to go unseen.

Yes, it will be the same as on the front page (Quick Reads tab in this case) where your story is third on the list. A story doesn't appear there until its display date, and those must be at least 24 hours apart for the same author. It hovers in "undisplayed limbo" until then, which means people can read, vote and comment on it, but it's only accessible from the author's profile or a direct link.

Even without this weird hiccup that you've identified (thank you, btw), stories don't last long in the top spot or on the front page. Not much we can do about that, I'm afraid.

Okay, so the simple fix for Gav would be for the story display date to apply to both the front page and the category pages?

Yes. You gonna message him?

I'm getting confused. Are you saying a story will sit at the top of a category page until it gets displayed on the front page? I'm not sure that's true. If it were, other stories would leapfrog it down in the list and I don't think I've ever seen that.

It's literally what kistinspencil is describing here. The story Harpaxophilia is at the top of the Microfiction page (and has been since the story was verified, it seems), but it is yet to appear on the front page (or Quick Reads tab).

EDIT: And I just tested it to confirm by posting a Microfiction story. It appears third on the category page, even though it's the most recent story, because others have a display date in the future.

The stories tab is set as the default to casual surfers who aren't logged in, so currently they won't see flash stories unless they go to the category, or click on the 'quick reads' or 'all' tab.

But individual members can change what their default is in the settings. Mine is set to see everything. smile

I've always assumed the timestamps used in the story logs (where I copied that info from) just use a preset timezone or a server time. Maybe Gav has it set to the time zone he lives in?

If it was dynamic, it would display differently for each moderator based on the timezone setting on their account.

I think it is dynamic (hard for us to check because we're in the same time zone).

I think the problem is that the "display date" refers to when it will appear on the front page (whichever tab), but that it goes straight to the category page regardless. Then the story retains a high position in the ordering because its display date is actually in the future.

In this instance, kistinspencil's story could never have gone to the top of that page.

Why would they be? Newest at the top of the page.

No, sorry, confused myself. But the first two shouldn't be displayed at all yet.

EDIT: I now understand what's happening, but it means that story has been at the top of that page for two days, which seems very unfair.

Hope that makes sense.

By what you've just said, those three stories would be in the completely wrong order.

Micros don't appear on the main page. They've been filtered off into the quick reads tab.

She's talking about the actual Microfiction page.

The story at the top of that page isn't on the Quick Reads tab yet.

I saw it when I checked for new stories on the Micro category page that day. I've never looked at that member's profile. And shouldn't mine, from today, be above both of the others then?

Like I said, not a complaint, just want to understand how it works.

Yeah, trying to piece it together myself. See the edits to my post above.

I think it goes directly onto the category page when published, but retains its relative "display date" ordering.
