This was a tough writing prompt, so a big round of applause to all of you who took a stab at it. There were a ton of fantastic and creative ideas. I am envious of all of you and your talent(s).

Congratulations to Violet who seems to have taken to these comps like a sitophile to gooey desserts (that's the same as saying a duck to water for us non-food-sex players). 😊

Great to see Krystal and Saucy round out the podium! Well done by all.

Wow. I'm not sure what to say other than thank you to Nicki and all the judges who put in countless hours to conduct these comps. Congrats to WW (stop looking up! tucks my skirt between my legs) and extra special congrats to Kimmi on her first podium finish. Congrats also to the rest of the top ten finishers.

Oh yeah, and drinks are definitely on me! ❤

Thank you, Nicola, for the recognition. I have been smiling all day since I found out! And thank you all for the congratulatory posts. (group hug emoji)

You've always been my favorite, Tam (don't tell the others)

I charge a 'secrecy tax' 😇

I agree with WW and Kat, I often find myself reading stories to try and find inspiration. I know you said you lost your old works (tragic!), but even if you hadn't, sometimes reading other authors will give you a different perspective. Observe how they approach a certain scene or subject matter. What words and adjectives do they use to conjure imagery? Etcetera, etcetera...(dramatic hand flare)

My other technique is brainstorming. I have a few close friends that I hold high in admiration when it comes to their writing skills and imagination. Often times if I am stuck, I like to bounce ideas around with them. You'd be surprised how effective it is to talk out your idea(s) and let them ask you questions about it.

I'd be happy to check out your 413-word opener...as long as it's not a comp piece. 😎

This was such a stacked field of quality stories! I think there could have easily been a top 25. Congratulations to everyone who made that list of 10; especially Jaymal, Ensorceled, and Jen for making it all the way to the podium!

Users leave unexpectedly.

No to getting email address. If user didn't give you outside contact, then why would you think the Mods would give that info. to you?

Plus, you didn't indicate users handle.

Enjoy the users why they exist on the site.

And, Mods are very chill, they just delete users account w/out needing too.

I think you meant we DON'T just delete accounts w/out needing to. Right? finger hovers over DELETE button

Introduce the title of your story: Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing
Genre/Category: Wife Lovers (although it might be better suited in Voyeur)

1. What first inspired you to write this particular story?
I love music. In the cafe where I work, I am able to play around with playlists (usually when it's slow). I heard Chris Isaak's song, Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing, and was intrigued by the lyrics. They are not ground-breakingly poetic, but their message was what got to me. Have you ever loved someone so much that you'd basically do anything for them? And thus my story was born.

2. How did you come up with these characters?
Dennis Barlowe, my main character, was born after I googled the video for the song. I watched it on youtube and saw the torment the guy in the video went through. I knew this story was going to have to be written from his perspective. It was the only true way to depict that raw emotional component. Then I just needed two other characters to enact my plot. Linda Barlowe, the somewhat mysterious wife and Julie Stallard the ex-girlfriend who never really got over her heartbreak. Both women needed to be powerful in their own way which helped signify that my boy Dennis had a type. I set the foundation for this with the opening scene in his office setting.

3. How does it differ from some of your other stories?

This differs in that I wrote it from the male point of view, and in the first person which presented a risk/challenge for me to try and capture his voice. It is also heavily voyeuristic, which really tested my ability to show as opposed to tell. How do you script and pen a sex scene your narrator is not involved in while avoiding 'she did this' and 'they did that'? I'm sure there are parts that a better author could have done, well... better. But I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

4. What was the most challenging thing about writing this piece?
Definitely that voyeuristic aspect. Being able to capture the essence of the action Dennis was watching was difficult. I did this by trickling in little recollections and tying those past experiences into what he was seeing play out with both women. It took a few re-writes but I think it turned out nicely.

5. Anything else you want to tell us about it?
The ending gave me fits of panic. I don't want to go into too much detail here, in case you haven't read it yet, but I struggled with whether or not to make it so intense. Ultimately, I fell back to the motivation for writing the story in the first place; what would, or better yet, what wouldn't you do for what you perceived as true love? Once I resolved myself to that, the ending pretty much wrote itself.

I hope you will give it a read and let me know what you think.
Thank you for all the kind words and thanks to all those who read my story. I'm not sure how to fully express my gratitude for all the comments and congratulatory posts here. Just know that they do mean the world to me.

Special thanks to Jen for forcing the folks on the EP panel to read this story. And to that panel for dedicating even more of their time to the review process.

Now, excuse me while I get back to reading all the amazing stories on this site.
A warm congratulations to all who entered. It takes so much courage to put your heart and soul into a story then release it for judgment. By that token, I truly think all entrants into these comps deserve a round of applause:

A special congrats to those recognized in the top 10. And of course a raise of the glass to Jake and WW for two amazing stories. Two comps in a row for these two making it to the podium. Well done!

pssst...there is a non-erotic comp going on over on storiesspace.com. There are some amazing tales of courage and survival (fiction and nonfiction) that are worth taking a minute to go read. smile The added traffic over there would be much appreciated. Just remember to keep it clean as it is an all-ages site.
How did I miss this announcement?

Congratulations, Vi. This will undoubtedly be the first of many!
Gonna be hard to follow Verbal's post...that made me all teary.

I've known Rachel for a while now, but one of those things where I feel like we met yesterday yet it also feels like she's been in my life forever. She means so much and does so much for so many people, there are times I wonder how one person can do it. Maybe her ability to be so multifaceted explains her infatuation with tentacles. Or she's just uber frickin sexy.

Thank you for making me smile, Rach. Congratulations on your achievement award! It should come with a huge statue (insert bust joke here).

If you come across someone sobbing, ask if it's because of their haircut.

100 stories...100 words each...that's like...MeFsQENM5E9W56zm words!

I suck at maths but you rock at micros! Congratulations on such an amazing feat.

Molly is one of my favorite humans! Sexy, funny, smart and sexy! Oh, and sexy!

Congrats, Molls.
I really loved this story. It thrusts you into the action from the opening line and holds you there all the way through. A truly fantastic (and sexy) flash. Well done, Ensorceled.

Well done to everyone. Some stonking stories in there
wow... def using that in my next story. "She had a stonking set of tits." (work in progress)

This competition theme required a tremendous amount of literary talent. To be able to combine humor and sex and make it clever, smart, and erotic had to have been a daunting task. And the quality that showed up was amazing!

Congratulations to all who entered, especially those who placed in the top ten. Strong accomplishment for sure.

Phil, WW, Jaymal... huge congratulations on your stories taking the podium.
