I submitted a story 10 days ago and haven’t heard anything. Is that pretty typical? If there’s a need for moderators to get stories looked at more quickly could someone let us know how to volunteer? I haven’t been able to find anything on the site about how moderators are selected.

In my stories I try to explore the way negative emotions, especially the feeling of humiliation, can become erotically charged. It’s made me see the limitations of a genre that has defined expectations about the emotional tone of a story and how a story can lose its status as erotica through the emphasis of some experiences over others, even when sexual experience is the primary content of the story.

I’ve seen writers of first person stories use “I” in almost every sentence and it doesn’t come across as overdone. I think the context must be important, and the content of the story told. When there’s enough else going on, the focus of the story may not be on the first person narrator at all but on the events or circumstances being recounted.

I have several fountain pens but don’t use them often. I get frustrated with the maintenance, the ink drying up, nibs needing cleaning. I don’t use them often enough to keep them flowing. I do love that they require so little pressure to make a mark and can be used with a relaxed grip.

Allowing private individuals to have tigers as pets is not a good substitute for protecting their numbers in the wild. I think it’s a good idea to prohibit private ownership, but also to take steps to preserve wildlife habitats for them, and to protect them against poachers and illegal hunting in the wild.

I don’t see how it could be banned except by restricting internet access within the school. And for most US schools, i.e. all public ones, that would create a free speech problem. Apart from that very significant legal issue, if porn doesn’t actually cause the problems it’s accused of then there’s not much reason to ban it.

The comments really are a type of personal, and helpful, interaction between reader and writer, the scores are less so because they are not identified with any particular reader, unless I’m overlooking something. The scores are made anonymously. Comments are really helpful in providing feedback because they give the reader a chance to explain why they liked or didn’t like something about the story. With a simple numerical score alone you won’t know why it was given, so it isn’t really helpful at all in providing feedback to a writer.
