Hi Becky,

I'll private message you. I know what it's like to be starting out as a writer that doesn't feel confident about grammar. It's great that you wish to improve.

Massive Congratulations to the top three!!

I'm super happy that one of my favourite writers won!! Sitting writes the most amazing stories and I'm really pleased she won.

Also massive congratulations to Clum, another of my favourite writers. (Told you!!)

I haven't read RejectReality's work, but I'm sure it was really deserving of the 2nd place.

Lastly well done to my fellow authors in the top ten.

There are so many great writers on this site that I just don't know how the panel can judge these things!!

What makes me laugh is you smugly acting like you don't know what I am talking about when it comes to exactly when your inspiration hit. That is what I mean by you showing some discretion. I am not denying that someone can come up with a story idea in a few minutes...what I was questioning is you stating how fleshed out it actually was so soon after the competition was announced. You are acting like the comp was announced to your complete surprise and minutes later you had a fleshed out idea. Confident enough to post here about it that soon after the announcement. If I can see how unconvincing your explanation is than I am sure others can as well. And I am someone that has done well in comps... Others that haven't even entered comps would probably feel the deck is stacked against them.

Close minded... LOL more like a little too open minded. Someone like me sees the whole forest. You're bumping into trees.

I refer you to my last response, in which I said I would not discuss this matter with you any further.

If you have an issue then can I suggest you take it up as an official complaint by using the contact page.
Quote by Magical_felix
Of course you only heard about the comp the day you posted and that same day you thought of your adjustments... Sounds legit.

discretion

dis·cre·tion

the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information.

Not sure if crowbarring a backburnered story into a comp theme is the way I would go nor do I think it is in the spirit of competition... but good luck to you.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I think care should be taken when writing in forums, as the tone can very easily be taken the wrong way. I don't know if this is what has happened for you? I feel you must have taken my post wrong for you to respond to my messages in such a way.

I feel that it is wrong that I should have to explain myself to you (again), but I will and this will be the last I say on the matter.

In my experience, imaginative and creative people tend to have a store of ideas, it can only take seconds for inspiration strike. I understand that it doesn't always come as easily, as I've had situations with past competitions where I have been unable to think of an idea instantly. Sometimes a theme taps into something that you've been thinking about. (like this theme for me)

Having never spoken to you before, or you never reading any of my work (to my knowledge) I don't feel you are very well placed to judge my ability to come up with ideas quickly, or how much care and attention I take with my writing. I wouldn't be so rude as you've been to me with someone I knew really well, let alone someone that I never had contact with before. You have no understanding of the person you are attacking. (And even if that wasn't your intention, that is what you have done.)

It actually made me laugh at the fact that you quoted a definition at me speaking of care in what one says to not cause offense. The phrase, pot calling the kettle black, springs to mind.

I can tell from the messages that you've already sent, that this post won't make a blind bit of difference to your opinion and that's fine, but I'd respectfully ask that you desist in picking at my ability to form story ideas, or make sly accusations towards me.

And here's a definition for you;

closed-mind·ed [klohzd-mahyn-did]

adjective
having a mind firmly unreceptive to new ideas or arguments: It's hard to argue with, much less convince, a closed-minded person.

You made these adjustments in just a couple hours? Well that's pretty impressive. You had a story (idea) already, then you heard of this comp and in a couple hours you figured the proper adjustments to make it work for this comp. That is what you are saying? Well that is very impressive. Good luck in the comp!

Yes, I was saying I made the adjustments in a few hours. It actually only took a few minutes to decide how I would fit the product placement into the story. It's a story that I've been thinking about for nearly a year, but I've only recently felt happy enough with the standard of my writing to be able to attempt to write it.

As for Nymphwriter being sensitive, I think its due to the fact that the tone in someone's post can be hard to pick up, so if it contains humour, or sarcasm, it can be easily read as something different.

I hope you manage to think up a story idea and wish you the best in the competition.
Quote by NymphWriter

Really, you can't come with a story idea in a few hours? What's wrong with you?. Hell, I get an idea within a matter of minutes, it's just the time I take to hammer it out that makes the real difference. Some authors can plan out a story with in a few hours, but writing might take a bit longer. She didn't say she had it written, just planned. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I'm with Sprite on this one dude, you're being a dick, dick. [smili e=ke

LOL! Thanks Sweetie.

Do you think it would turn him into even more of a dick, if I said my planning process involved writing out some scenes and it turned into over 2400 words. When the writing just flows (even if it is just a plan) it feels brilliant. I just hope writing the story goes as well.
Quote by Magical_felix

Look, not trying to be a dick....

But how do you have your story all planned out just a few hours after the announcement? It's just been a few hours.

Is this the first you've heard of this comp and you already have a story all planned out? That's pretty impressive. Would like to know that process.

I've had the character and storyline in mind for quite some time. I've just had to make a few adjustments to fit the theme. That's one good thing to come from having a mind full of story ideas, I just wish I had more time to write all these ideas.

Hope that's cleared things up for you
I've got my story all planned out, so I'm hoping it's going to be easy to write.

Super excited about this one!!!

I have to respectfully disagree. I think it's a lazy way to say thank you for a comment. If someone takes the time to not only read a story but also leave a thoughtful comment, I think a little more effort than a mouse click is in order - a brief message, a profile page post, even a black box. I suppose we all have our own ideas about what constitutes good manners, and I realize that I'm probably in the minority on this one, but when I receive my own words back by way of thanks I can't help wondering why the sender even bothered. I don't always get around to it as quickly as I should, and I'm sure I've dropped the ball a few times, but I do feel it's important to let my readers know I appreciate them. I've met some interesting people in the process. By the way, the Timeline makes it really easy to keep track of those kinds of things when I do fall behind. Anyway, just my two cents.

I probably wasn't very clear with my last post, so I can understand you disagreeing with me. What I should have said is I think it's a great way for authors who didn't thank readers to start doing so and making it easier for them.

If you've ever scored, or commented on one of my stories you will know that I take a lot of time to search for a picture that captures the feel of my story and turn it into a thank you note. I also private message every reader that isn't on my friends list and take the time to thank them personally. I also do this for any new followers.

I understand that this isn't for everyone and most don't have the time to go to such lengths to show appreciation for their readers. That is why I think the new option is a great addition.
Happy Birthday Nicola. I saw this wine and it just had to be your gift...

But you can't be pouring your own wine on your birthday...

Hopefully, you'll have a brilliant day...

The question was ask "Which improvement or features would you like to see added?" I do believe this question is too open ended and not truly base to a certain area to this site so this feedback for improvement should be looked at. This would be an improvement to the interaction between story mods and the writers.

I understand the site only wants the best for people to read or stories to be posted on here and yes there are other sites with relax rules for posting. Just that if the site wants the best then the writers should expect the best feedback also. If this is a touchy subject then I am sorry for the ones who thinks so. I will take it as my posting on here as noted and let it go after this. I did not want to start an argument over the subject with others just giving my input for improvement to the site and the people that are on here.

I will remind the story mods not all are bad story mods just there are some in the ranks that are and could cause a person such as my friend to quit this site and to write. This also might explain one reason of a high turn over rate on the site too not sure just a thought on that.

I have sent you a private message to discuss the matter further.
Quote by Roquleaure

Its not that the rules are bad and I not saying the story mods are bad either, just that I am asking the comments that a friend has shown me were kind of rude or smart ass way. I do believe that there are better ways in answering or giving feedback to another. Sometimes we all forget that e-mails or messages are cold contacts without a voice to show emotions. A feed back asking "is English or native langue if so I feel sorry for you" is this acceptable?

If your friend was not happy with the correspondence from the moderator, then they could've contacted a senior member of the team to raise their concerns. I don't feel that this is the correct place to air concerns. If your friend wishes to make a complaint, please ask them to go through the proper channels by using the contact form.

I thought I was being weird when I let my characters write the story, but it seems it might not be that much on an uncommon occurrence after all.

Sometimes you've just got to not think about it too much. Write the story and then when its complete take a look at it and see what you think. It doesn't need to be submitted to Lush, if it's not acceptable, but that doesn't mean its any less of a story.

You can always just send it to me to read.

And thanks, I'm going to be singing this all day now;

I think my eyes are one of my best features. They're Hazel.
Massive congratulations to all that took part and especially to the winners.
I keep getting excited seeing the 'Announcing our supernatural..' thinking its the results!! How many times can I make the same mistake.

Best of luck everyone!!

I've added a new section to your activity settings page that should help you filter out these events from your profile.

Let me know if you see any problems with it.

btw this will only stop new ones, not ones that have been posted already.

Thanks Gav

I knew you'd get it, just so happened it was yours at that point, but my feed's been full of nothing but these today...

LOVE the feature, but don't need to see it in my feed smile

I think its a general feeling that people would like it removing from the feed and the request has beenesent to Gav, I'm sure if it's possible he'll sort it asap.

I have not sent a story in as of yet just heard the feedback from others of the process of going through it. Now I do believe this site only wants the best to submit stories just that we are not all great writers. So I do believe the stories are only as good as the Story mods are and some could think they are doing a services while not helping at all. If you feel like I am attacking rest a sure I am not. Now could LustStories.com relax on the rules or even better revise the rules that is up to them.

There are a vast number of authors that would tell you that the voluntary help that the moderating team give is nothing but supportive and helpful. When I first submitted my own stories I was not a great writer. It has only been through my stories being rejected, the guidance of the moderating team, and fellow authors help that I have increased my skills as a writer. I will always be grateful for someones help in my self-improvement.

When I was asked to moderate I saw it as a way to give back for all the help I had been given. The moderating team is there to assist authors and maintain a brilliant standard for the readers of the site.

It's always been my experience that you should give something a go and judge from your own experience.

I don't think its asking a lot that authors take time and effort to produce a story that the readers will enjoy. If you didn't feel the effort was worth it, then perhaps there is another site that would better suit?

I LOVE the new feature on story comments!!!
To be able to 'like' them is great and to be able to reply to them is awesome!!!

Nice work gav, thank you!

I've just noticed it as well and really like the idea. It's a great way to be able to say thank you for commenting.
First of all a message for my Sexy Birthday Buddy Liz; You're super talented, sexy, sweet and one of the nicest people on lush and I wouldn't want to share a birthday with anyone else.

I hope you have a brilliant day sweetie.

For everyone who has left Birthday Wishes - Thank You so Much!!

What about, taking that idea further, being able to set up personal mailing lists?

Then, for example, when people are sending out spam about their new stories, those of their friends who REALLY don't want to receive them (me) could politely request to be removed from that list.

I'm pretty sure you can already opt out of messages sent to all friends in your settings. ]

I tried to get this app and couldn't due to geographical restrictions. I live in the USA.

Did you use the link I posted, because that was for Amazon.co.uk - See if there is a version on Amazon.com

Would you like Lush stories to have its own phone app?

I personally think it would be a great idea. I use my ipad for using and reading on lush and sometimes find it quite annoying to use as I multitask reading and talking to friends.
And also, then people ask request to "online chat" it rarely works for me. So I have to use a computer.

What's your opinion? What do you think the PROS and CONS would be for this idea?
ALSO - would you be prepare to pay for it - if it was available?

There already is one.
