At the moment, I'm really liking Atelier's newest baby - Pacific Lime. It's everything you could want in a tropical beachside cocktail, minus the alcohol. Atelier can be hit or miss for me, but I really enjoy their citrus frags (California Clementine, Orange Sanguine, Pomelo Paradis etc). Pacific Lime is easily my fave of these and stays decidedly feminine throughout. Lots of juicy lime and lemon (kind of goes a little pink grapefruit to my nose), with hints of mint and eucalyptus, drying down to a really nice breezy coconut skin scent a few hours later. Very fresh and not overly sweet. I love these kind of scents in the winter when I'm craving the sun.

I like them roasted in a cast iron skillet, with a touch of olive oil, sea salt, fresh rosemary and Tibetan lavender.
I prefer just going for drinks on a patio or at a chill bar or lounge, maybe with a few shared apps or tapas if things are going well. It's more relaxed, easier to talk, and less of a time commitment if you need/want to leave early.
Pop that champagne! Happy Birthday, beautiful!
Hope it's filled with cake, kisses and lots of birthday spankings!
Love you! xx

This is standard impersonal/generic customer service, aiming for client retention. Nothing more.
I've really been enjoying Fawn by Ellis Brooklyn this summer.

It's a blend of spring citrus, milky coconut and sun-warmed skin. Soft and beachy and fresh.

Hottest bites of D/s on the site. Even as a non-BDSM type, my imagination is sparked every time.
Highly recommended.
Yes, I use products that will detangle and condition and keep the frizzies away. (I also use a straightener most of the time to finish off a blowdry and keep things smooth.)

I start with Drybar's Prep Rally Detangler. If my hair is more dry than usual, I'll go in with Alterna's Caviar CC Cream. If it's summer, sometimes I switch it up with Sun Bum's 3-in-1 Leave in Conditioner Spray, which has some UV protection, especially if I'm going to be outside a lot.

I also love a good lightweight finishing oil. My long-time favourite is Aveda's Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. I also like Alterna's Bamboo Beach Summer Sunshine Spray at this time of the year -it has UVA/UVB protection and it also smells amazing. Drybar's 100 Proof is also really good, but a little more intense.

Then if I want to go with 'beachy waves' - my fave product is Bumble and Bumble's Surf Infusion because it's not just a basic salt spray - it's got great conditioning oils as well to keep the waves soft and not crunchy or sticky. I've used a variety of salt sprays in the past, and this is by far my favourite, other than the original John Frieda Beach Blonde Waves from my high school days (the one that you had to shake up). The reformulated version is 'ok' but I prefer the Surf Infusion now.

I’ve been trying mine hand at this for quite some time. First it Ashleigh pushing me with her writing and pulling me into this site in the first place.

You're welcome, Lush Stories!

Ok, seriously - so you did it! Huge congrats on this very well deserved win. Your writing - every piece - has always been distinctly your voice, impossible to replicate, and always original. It was a fantastic story and a clever way to play with the theme. So happy to see this recognized!

Congrats also to WannabeWordsmith and PhilU for rounding out the top 3, and cheers to all the top 10!
He was one of my favourite celebrities and human beings.

This one hit me hard too.

I've spent many a family holiday binge watching marathons of Parts Unknown. Much like his show depicts, it's something that brings people together, despite conflict and tension.

His episodes in the Middle East were compelling and ground breaking, especially the ones in Iran and the Palestinian territories, giving human faces and stories to regions that are often not seen as sympathetic in western media.

This is such a tremendous loss for so many people. He definitely lived a life that most envied. He made people curious about the world and all the things that make us different, and yet the same.

Ironic that the same holds true for depression and suicide. We're all different - status, education, fame, money - but we can all be gripped and humbled and even taken down by it.

I saw earlier that Kate Spade had passed away at 55. How sad. I love her bags and accessories. This is probably my favourite bag that I have.

I am still shocked. I've always loved her stuff. Bags, accessories, watches, and her line included some really fresh home decor too. I still covet her iconic lacquered jewelry boxes. What a tragic ending for such an enduring and bright star.

I have this bag. I've always thought she did bright pops of colour especially well.

And, when I was a teen, I used to tote this little uber feminine bag to weddings, special events, and even party nights with a cute little dress etc It was pretty on trend for its time.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has found a good product that works for extended periods of physical activity. I do a lot of cycling and find most products I have tried either bead along with sweat, block natural sweating (and therefore hamper the body's ability to cool) or break down too quickly in the heat.

Have you tried Sun Bum? Great products, with the owner/CEO coming from a pro surfing background.

I use this brand when running. It's mineral based, and I find it less prone to breaking down in the sun. This also has a water resistance rating (80 min).

https://www.trustthebum.com/

The Sun Bum Signature lotion is SPF 50

Here's their claims:
- Ideal for everyday use by adults and children and formulated for even the most sensitive skin
- Broad Spectrum UVA/ UVB Protection, Water Resistant (80 Minutes)
- High Performance Premium Zinc Formula is Hypoallergenic, Vitamin E Enriched & Non-Migrating. Designed to not bleed into your eyes, make your hands slippery, or come off during the most rigorous activities in the water, wind, or blazing hot sun.
- We leave out the stuff that clogs pores or causes common allergies. Non-comedogenic, Paraben Free, Cruelty Free, Gluten Free, PABA free, Oil Free, & Oxybenzone Free.
- Our Signature line is used and trusted by many lifeguard and beach rescue organizations. Dermatologist tested. All Sun Bum Original sunscreens have been stringently tested, approved, and recommended. Trust the Bum.

And it comes in other SPF options, up to 70.

*Sun Bum also makes great hair care/protective products for summertime.*

I also like ThinkSport (SFP 50). It's rated as one of the very best on EWG, 20% Zinc, contains no bad stuff and works well.

enjoying this thread, thank you.

Anyone have suggestions for under eyes, i use Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclat - Radiant Touch
but love some other suggestions, thanks.

Touch Eclat is very light coverage, but a really nice natural look, especially on no makeup days. I tend to use it more as a highlight/brightener otherwise.

For undereyes, I use NARS radiant creamy concealer in Creme Brulee. Sometimes for a bit of extra brightening if I haven't slept, I also use a little dab of Becca's undereye brightening corrector.

Over the past year or two, Tarte's Shape Tape has been super popular. It's very full coverage. I don't use it because I tend to go for lighter coverage products in general, but people rave and rave about it and it's definitely a major bestseller.

Anyone wanna help a girl out for somewhat cheap foundation suggestions for dry skin? I've always ended up cakey between my eyebrows and around my nose. Help!

*Edit: I'm also hella light skinned too, so..

This vid might be helpful. I always check youtube for reviews/swatches/impressions before buying any beauty product. Some channels are better than others, but the beauty community is a great resource.

In the vid below, L'Oreal True Match, Maybelline Fit Me and Bourjois Healthy Mix seem to be the best for dry skin.

Here's a great demo/review of the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy on very light skin with lots of swatches of their lightest shades:

And on the Maybelline Fit Me Matte:

I am living for this thread ? As for me, I am more of a skincare enthusiast. I'm into all forms and products of skincare even some awesome korean skincare products. I'm pretty bad at makeup though. I love Too Faced, Nyx, Maybelline, Nars, Wet n Wild, Benefit, and Milani. Those are my most purchased from brands anyway. ?I saw someone post about Benefit Porefessional and as a girl who suffers from oily skin and large pores, that primer is a God-send.?
Milani has adorable blushes and bomb highlighters as well as Wet n Wild.
I'm about to invest in Nars sheer glow foundation though because it seems to be the only foundation line thats both pale and yellow enough for me.
If anyone here has a good suggestion for pale, yellow tone foundations, let ya girl know cause I'm struggling. Save a minion.

It depends on the level of coverage and finish you like in a foundation. I like the NARS Sheer glow and Hourglass Hyaluronic Skin Tint, but for a truly 'skin-like' glowy finish, I recently got hooked on Kevin Aucoin's Etherealist (after trying a sample). The shade range isn't particularly extensive though.

You might want to look into Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear foundation. They have a huge array of colours and tones. Colour 130 is for 'fair skin with warm yellow undertones'. I haven't tried Fenty foundation but you have to like a matte finish. I did watch a few youtube vids when it first launched that said it wasn't ideal for dry skin and also some said it oxidized slightly, so get a sample at Sephora first to make sure it's right for your skin.

All in all, you can't go wrong with NARS though. smile

Oh, and yes - one of my fave beauty youtube channels is always raving about those Wet n Wild Mega Glow highlighters. I haven't tried them though because I have enough highlighters to live the rest of my life as the Tin Man, if I wanted to. silly

ps. re Korean Skin Care - I can't live without May Coop's Raw Sauce. They do have some great (unique) product lines.

I struggle with blush because I'm very fair. I really like my newest, which is Hourglass Ambient Lighting. It's pricey, but hard to over-apply.

Yes! I have a couple of the Hourglass blushes, and I agree - they are so easy to wear (I especially love Dim Infusion!). Hourglass is such a great brand. And their new setting powder is sooo good!

You would probably enjoy blushes like Benefit's Gold Rush too. It has a gold overspray but a few swirls of the brush and it's gone, and the main blush colour is a subtle rose gold/apricot - literally impossible to over apply, even with a heavy hand. Some people were complaining it was more of a blush topper because it's that subtle. Benefit's Dandelion would probably also be a good choice, if you don't already have it.

I also like cream products for sheer/natural colour on the cheeks, like the NARs multiples. I have a couple from the Charlotte Gainsbourg collection (colours - Alice and Jo) that are so sheer and easy to blend and just offer a bare hint of colour.

Blush is so easy to overdo - I will only play around with the stronger, pigmented ones when I have full natural light and then go in with a stipple brush or my trusty Sigma blush brush that somehow avoids picking up too much colour like a few of my other brushes that are more densely packed.
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb is everything. I bought it when it came out last fall because... neutral/rose-gold glosses are my jam, but I didn't expect to love it (and use it) as much as I have.

I'm also going on my second tube of Marc Jacob's gloss in French Tickler. His glosses are legit fantastic (also, best/silkiest applicator ever).

My fave (recent) eye palettes are:
- the Anastasia Soft Glam palette as well as Modern Renaissance - super buttery and pigmented. Probably the nicest quality palettes I've ever used.
- Too Faced Peachy Mattes (I love my mattes)
- getting back into my Urban Decay Naked Heat, which I really enjoyed last summer
- I recently splurged on the Marc Jacob 'Fantascene' palette from the Coconut Fantasies collection. I love the Dew Drops Highlighter (last year's shade, the newer rose gold one is too dark for my skin tone), the coconut bronzer he brought back to add to this this collection is gorgeous.

Blush - These days, I'm keeping it pretty subtle with Benefit's Gold Rush, sometimes mixed with a touch of Milani's Luminoso. I'm also back into Bobbi Brown's bronzing/blush in Antigua which is a really natural tawny pink and so easy to wear.

Tatcha Skin Mist - finally tried it after being very reluctant because I wanted to believe it was just over-hyped, but it's actually really good. I'm trying to use it sparingly because it's so spendy for what it is.

Also - fave new'ish product - Charlotte Tilbury's Unisex Healthy Glow. Literally gives you filter skin with a tiny touch of colour/glow, though the product comes out white and almost slightly grainy (it contains little spheres of colour). It's sooo good. Especially for no-makeup days and summertime when you don't want to wear foundation or deal with matching up subtle changes in skin colour with your usual products. This would work on guys too, if you're into that kind of thing.
A great video demonstrating that even if your foundation/CC/BB/whatever contains SPF, you are *not* getting that level of protection from the sun.

While I don't depend on makeup for my sun protection, last year, I used a new chemical sunscreen and was frustrated that I was still 'tanning through' it.

This year, I'm doing all physical/mineral sunscreens (zinc or titanium dioxide based) and I'm liking the results so far. I'm rotating between four brands, but my favourites are the Drunk Elephant ones (I have the regular and the tinted 'Umbra'). They both have 20% zinc.

Here's a great overview on the pros and cons of chemical vs physical sunscreen, for anyone that's interested.
Like you, I've experimented with many different brands - sometimes for the scent or price, although I've dabbled in expensive shampoos (don't feel like it makes much of a difference in quality, honestly). The type of hair products I use are always the most hydrating line/variation I can find, unless it's summer and I'm going with a salt spray for beachy waves.

My holy grail since high school is the Pantene Sleek & Smooth line. I always go back to this one. It's the only shampoo/conditioner that leaves my hair like absolute silk every time.

In recent years, I've also enjoyed the Garnier Coconut Water line (smells amazing, but for pure hydration, Pantene is still better). I've still bought this one for a change up more than once.

Post shampoo treatment is just as important as the type of shampoo for me.

The one I use before blow drying that I absolutely LOVE is the Drybar Prep Rally detangling spray. I've used many detanglers and leave in conditioners, but I can't live without this one. It doesn't weigh hair down but just takes my hair to another level.

And then... my fave finishing oil is the Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. I've been using this for at least ten years and it's perfect. At times I've used Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil and Drybar's 100 Proof and they're very good, but I love how light the Aveda one is.

I really enjoyed the last episode. I've not been a fan of the Dumpster community, but I've always liked Jadis. Pollyanna McIntosh is an interesting actress and strangely sexy too. With the loss of her followers, Jadis can drop the facade and really evolve as a character, so that meat grinder tragedy needed to happen. It was cool to hear a bit of her backstory finally, and to hear her speak in full sentences. I hope she's able to integrate into Rick's group or have some other strong storyline.

Also, what's the theory with the helipad and solar panels?

And... Khary Payton (who plays Ezekiel) posted this on recently: "Pay the woman."

Lauren Cohan is trying to negotiate fair salary since her contract expires this season. Now she's signed on to do a new pilot. I hate the way the show has marginalized one of its strongest characters, and I really don't think the show can handle another major character loss right now. ( Link )

SebToots!

Big Air was one of the most exciting events for me. So sad for Mark McMorris and Max Parrot, but amazing to see SebToots win Olympic Gold!

Also - commentator Craig McMorris is awesome. #holykittens

And Zagitova wins the gold. I'm so sad, I really felt like Medvedeva bested her.

I agree.

Zagitova is very talented with her jumps, but still feels junior'ish to me. And I dislike the rule of the 10% bonus for backloading a program with jumps as well. It really throws the balance, artistry and performance off for me. I think she was a little ahead of her music as well.

Medvedeva is the total package. She should have had gold. It was heartbreaking to see her face after she realized she was second.

I loved seeing Kaetlyn Osmond have a great skate and get bronze. Nice big jumps too. After the short, she seemed cool and confident, and she came to play last night.
Such an exciting ski cross race. So many crashes and injuries, everyone went so hard.

After three Olympics, Brady Leman finally won Gold. I really admire his perseverance. This was a great moment to watch.

Mind = blown. The short dance was enough to make the difference for Tessa and Scott!

After Papadakis and Cizeron hit their world record marks for the free, I didn't think it was possible, but the mark differential from last night tipped Virtue and Moir over the edge (by less than a point). Also didn't hurt that they had total audience support and skated last.

This is by far the most satisfying gold medal win for me at this Olympics. Tears shed. What a way to cap off a truly stellar career.

The French team was lyrical and beautiful and they should have the OGM sewn up in 4 years. No other skaters in the pipeline come close to the raw talent needed to overtake them. And being something like 22 or 23 yrs old, they have plenty of time to make their mark.

Loved that the Shibutanis got the bronze. They really have the best twizzles and spins and I'm glad to see it was rewarded.
