I'm ex-pat American, white male, 6'1", 185 lbs, retired from IT, living half time on my sailboat in the eastern Aegeas Sea other half in France. I'm physically very active, I play competitive tennis, downhill ski and am a pathetic bicyclist. I play guitar (blues mostly, folk), have two acoustic guitars; also an Epiphone Les Paul Studio electric guitar that I just bought and am trying to master. I spent my life in suits, so now wearing a t-shirt is dressing up. I love French cuisine and wine, but am no snob, nor proud. Heterosexual. Can't do too much online in summer as my Internet access on the boat is slow and pricey.
Interests I'm kind of a geek and so I'm a tech freak (that was my job after all); I play bridge; used to race/rally cars when I had the money to own one, now I have a little Renault that is not exciting but gets me from point A to point B.
Favorite Books Anything by favorite authors
Favorite Authors Tom Sharpe, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Moliere, Carl Hiassen, Tom Dorsey
Favorite Movies Life of Brian, Harold & Maude, the Bourne series, Captain Ron, Casablanca, Animal House, God Bless America...
Favorite TV Shows Hate TV (though House of Cards is pretty good and Homeland S1 & 2)
Favorite Music I LOVE MUSIC. Blues, blues, folk, classical, hard rock. Jorma Kaukonen (& Hot Tuna); Muddy Waters; Mississippi John Hurt; Bob Dylan; Chris Smithers; AC/DC; early Stones; Pink Martini; Enya; Loreena McKinnett; Boccherini; Beethoven; Mozart; Scarlatti; Chopin...and lots of other stuff. Don't like anything with a fiddle (as opposed to a violin), rap, electronic, bluegrass or opera (last maybe when I grow up). Favorite song is probably Jefferson Airplane's 'White Rabbit', sort of a two-minute fuck with a great climax. Also like Leonard Cohen's 'Suzanne' that I read much more into than he probably intended. I cry (really) when I hear Mozart's 41th Symphony (2nd movement) and also Beethoven's Second Violin Romance. Get a glass of nice red wine and sit back close your eyes and listen. Magic.
