About
I'm not sure what to write here, so please check back from time to time, as this will probably be an ongoing project. Whenever I think of something else to add, I'll come back and work on this profile. In the meantime, THANK YOU for stopping by and letting me have the opportunity to give you a little information about who I am.
* A special note *
I suppose it is because of my name, but it seems people are always asking what stories I have written. Maybe I can explain my situation to everyone's satisfaction. At the moment, except for the four stories listed here that I co-authored with SueBrasil, as well as those on her profile (I used a different name then), I haven't written any on my own. Since I do enjoy writing, even emails to my friends and family, I thought the name I have chosen for myself would be very appropriate. Perhaps one day, I will put my fingers on the keyboard and try my hand at writing something. When I do, I hope you will come by, read it and give your opinion.
A while ago, I enrolled in and completed a Creative Writing course. Since then and from the assignments we were given, I've been working on a couple of stories, though I doubt they will be published here. One is a romantic type, yes, I know, I'm a romantic nut. The other one, well...I'm not sure how to classify it, because the characters seem to have taken control.
Interests
Computers, reading, family, making new friends and visiting with old friends, both online and in real life. Travelling is something I love and I've been across most of Canada as well as through a majority of the states. I think it would be fun to write a story someday. Those of you that love to cook - I envy you - need to know that I'm not in your class at all. I do know how to run my microwave though. I'm also a good eater, by that I mean, I'm not fussy, you cook/bake it, I'll eat it. Do I score any points with you for that? " src="/images/emoticons/smile_regular.gif">
For many years I did a lot of square dancing, both here in Canada and in the USA. That was probably the most fun I've ever had and I'd certainly recommend it to anyone. One time I danced in a lake and I've also attended an international jamboree where it was estimated there were 3,000 people on the dance floor at any given time. Fantastic experience that was. I've done Do-sa-Do's in front of TV cameras and helped put on demonstrations in schools and shopping malls. More than once I've found myself in parades and on stage at local fairs. Several times I've been part of a 24-hour dance for the Jerry Lewis Telethon to help earn money for his handicapped children's fund. I'd love to learn ballroom dancing, so are any of you ladies good teachers?
Since this is an adult site, I know what I'm about to say is going to sound strange, especially coming from a guy, however, it's the way I feel. ROLE PLAYING or CYBER SEX of any kind is something that I'm NOT interested in. Getting to know people, learning about their likes, hopes and dreams is something I find very enjoyable, so I would appreciate it if we could keep it at that level. I've lost good friends over the issue of cyber sex, and I don't want it to happen again. I value my friends, and the love, care and respect we share with each other.
So you see ladies, not all guys are sex maniacs, though I'll admit probably most are. Some of us actually are interested in what you think and feel and would love a chance to get to know you on that level.
Favorite Books
I like a wide variety of stories ranging from Western to Science Fiction. A good romantic story will certainly grab my attention. I guess I'm just a big romantic at heart. A while back, I read Sara Palin's biography - quite interesting actually. History is something I've always found fascinating, so anything in that genre may catch my attention. I've been known to devour a few comic books. I do love to read.
Favorite Authors
I'm not sure I have one favorite author, but anyone that does a good job of creating a believable character will hold my attention, especially if the story has a good plot along with believable dialogue. In paper form, I've always enjoyed Isaac Asimov, Andre Norton, Robert Heinlein and Zane Grey. Recently started reading John Grisham - a terrific author. Here, well... I'd hate to mention anyone for fear of hurting somebody's feelings if I happened to miss them. Those that I like know who you are. Of course SueBrasil and LikeToWrite did a terrific job with the stories they co-authored. I know, that is a shameless plug. " src="/images/emoticons/smile_regular.gif">
Favorite Movies
Most any type of movie, except horror. While I'll watch a spy, detective, murder mysteries or other types along that line, I can't say they are my favorite. I'm to lazy to try to figure out who the villain is and I'm not very good at doing so. A good romantic tale will certainly tug at my heart.
I can't remember if I saw this on TV or as a movie, but years ago, I watched, 'To Sir With Love' staring Sidney Portier. I've never been a big fan of musical shows, and while there is a fair amount of singing in this one, I still loved it. The name of the leading lady escapes me at the moment, but she did a wonderful job of playing her role. For some reason this one has always stuck in my mind and I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Of course there is also Pretty Woman. I always enjoy looking at them... oh... I guess I'm supposed to be talking about movies. " src="/images/emoticons/smile_regular.gif"> If I enjoy something, I've been known to watch it over and over.
Favorite TV Shows
I don't watch much TV. When I do, it's usually something light like M*A*S*H* or some of the other oldies such as Beverly Hillbillies. Then there are Westerns, Science Fiction, Documentaries - it's fun to learn new things. I try to keep an open mind and be willing to watch most things at least once. The 'little kid' in me also demands that I find some cartoons interesting. " src="/images/emoticons/smile_regular.gif"> Hey, I'm not sure I've grown up yet.
Favorite Music
Quiet, soft, calming types of music. Some gospel. Classic country by some of the super great singers, such as Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Johnny Cash just to name a few, will always make me sit up and listen. Dolly Parton's 'Coat Of Many Colors' brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it. 'Ballad of the Green Berets' by Barry Sadler puts a lump in my throat. I'm not musical, so something with a nice steady rhythm is very enjoyable. No offense to those that enjoy Rap and heavy metal, however, those types of music just don't do it for me. If you want to really get my attention, give me a nice tune being played on a piano, accordion or violin, especially if it makes me start to tap my toes. Because I'm not musical (I wish I was) it's hard for me to thoroughly enjoy types like opera, though I certainly appreciate the amount of effort and talent those singers put forward. This also applies to Jazz, but perhaps I need to expose myself more to this type.
