My birthday is now an unfortunate quasi-national holiday--9/11, otherwise known as Patriot Day. The bar is pretty low for me having a happy birthday--I wake up, squint at CNN, see if anything has blown up, and if not, it's a happy birthday. So yah, I work on my birthday. I always have, and probably always will.

I usually work on my birthday. Even if it’s the weekend I still somehow seem to get roped into some Saturday overtime situation. The only times that I can recall not working on my birthday were when I was in school (high school, college) or when I happened to be in between jobs.

I can’t think of a good tagline so this will have to do. Suggest a better one for me?

I always work on my birthday, granted I could request off for it I suppose however working and being responsible is the mature thing to do, something like my birthday shouldn't interfere with that.

I usually ask for a day off if I can. I like to sleep in, go for a walk, watch a movie, go to the beach, go shopping, go for a nice meal... anything but being inside the office.

But the following day I bring cake or candy to my colleagues.

If it falls on a Monday through Friday, l do. The firm always gets a big birthday cake on each employee's birthday to have at the office and gives the employee a gift certificate.

Absolutely not. August 15th I will turn off the phone and watch movies with my husband while he cooks. Steak, mushrooms, whatever vegies. Ambrosia. Chocolate cake. Oatmeal cookies. I may even have a small glass of sherry.
