About

Mum, aunt, sister, churchgoing United Methodist, writer of porn.

In that order.

Interests
Reading, reading, reading, and also, reading. Books.

Competitive (only) shooting (Glock pistols), counted cross-stitch, knitting, gardening, floristry, and books.

Books. Did I mention books? I'm a "sniff the paper" kind of girl, so I collect first edition first printing (first/first) signed editions of books by First Nation and Pacific NW/Lower Mainland authors, and first/first editions of books published pre-1910, with an emphasis on nonfiction (medicine and science reference texts).

Modern books (see below) and random first/first, signed or unsigned editions of Twain, Dickens, Mary Shelley, all of whom were brilliant and engaged in a sort of three way match of wit.

I fell into collecting books at a very young age, and my collection is ever-evolving, as I am extraordinarily adept at tripping and falling over valuable and rare books and ephemera, both literally and figuratively.

No book in my collection has been purchased for >USD$250.

Fun facts!

Oldest:

1544 copy of Dante Alighieri's La divina commedia (The Divine Comedy). Illuminated, pages composed of ink on vellum, cover heavy but soft leather (unknown origin, probably lamb) inlaid with gold and silver.

Rarest:

1914 first/first copy of Roosevelt's Through the Brazilian Wilderness, signed by both Theodore Roosevelt and his son Kermit Roosevelt. The latter is notable for having saved his father's life multiple times during the 1913-14 Roosevelt-Rondon scientific expedition--while stricken with malaria.

1960 first/first copy of Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, with a flat signed note addressed and signed by the author to an unknown individual. Book is in NF condition, unread, and I so wish I knew why--but that's part of the charm.

Side Note: If you've not already read Nicholson Baker's Vox, go. Now. Read.
