IMHO, blocking someone is a valid act if someone is stalking or annoying you privately. If it's because you have a difference of opinions or someone acts like a fool with name-calling or aggressive remarks in a forum thread, blocking is a cheesy way of responding. Sticks & stones, neener neener, etc...
Someone mentioned retribution or payback. There really is no such thing. It's just venting on a keyboard invisibly on the internet. Sometimes it's fun to poke the bear, but no one is really more badass than anyone else here. It's about communication and socializing.
There is a simple way of dealing with difficult personalities should you desire to. Just ignore and don't respond.

I do apologize to the OP and anyone else who might have felt there was any heat in my comments. It was unintended and not meant to come across as such. Us older guys sometimes don't speak the same lingo as you youngsters.

Yes, Larry the Warlock, you are hiding behind a scrim of humor and civility, but some bitterness and envy is clearly visible at the edges. An RR means someone who reads stories thought the story worth noting. It's not the frikkin Academy Awards. It's like a Post-It note - here, read this, I thought it was good.

I'm content you have an opinion about it, but don't be so presumptuous as to assume you speak in fact. As well, I believe you meant frickin Pulitzer Prize and not frickin Academy Awards.
So we are clear, I merely selected an extreme example based on what the badges reflected. The author is a very good writer and deserving of RR's without question. Your defense of the author is unnecessary and self-serving.
There are many great writers here on Lush and they will be read whether they get an RR or not. I would suggest we leave it at that.

I don't care who gets an RR or who doesn't Sprite. It's never been on my list of high concerns. Respect is, however.

This in no way is intended to diminish the ability of any author here on Lush (or the other site). This is a commentary on process only.
The quality of a story is a subjective determination in the eyes of the reader. Since an RR is not determined by a committee, that means it is also a singularly subjective award.
There are many good writers here on Lush. Some are great writers. Most of them don't get any recognition at all, certainly nowhere near 82% of everything they post. So can you really say "quality" is the only consideration in giving an RR?
A reasonable person would think not.

I was trying to keep it humorous. Actually, mathematically probably a true statement given the totality of membership. However, the odds do change when you take only those members who have received RR's and apply the ratio. There is a member here who has posted 49 stories, 40 of which were given RR's and EC's. Tic-Tac anyone?

I have few friends here and in real life by design. I'm old enough and wealthy enough that I don't have to tolerate anything if I choose not to. Accordingly, I am blunt to a fault, which doesn't lend itself to much ongoing social interaction possibilities. That being said, I am open sexually with few boundaries or limitations. So with the exception of decorum in time and place, I am the same here as IRL.
