I wouldn't use Lulu. They do have a free option for self-publishing, but their business model is geared heavily towards getting authors to pay for publication.

I've already published with Excessica, but they seem to be snowed under with submissions at the moment. Smashwords is a good alternative. You can self-publish what you want, set the price, etc. Not a gateway to fame and fortune, but better than paying somebody to do what you can actually do yourself for free.

I was going to say Smashwords as well. Self pub should be the absolute last route. There are so many good publishers out there. I would say also just do a search on publishers. Do small sub calls for anthologies while you are waiting for someone to take your novel.

Writing.com is also another good site where there are forums, and you can add your stories in for others to rate and comment. They have groups with contests etc. I mean, there are many avenues but you must take baby steps before going for bigger ones.

LOL to the person who said XOXO. They are one of my publishers...

Here is a good link, and a useful site with a newsletter, etc...

The requirements are often very specific, sometimes they will not accept anything previously published, including on sites like this...

That is my fave writers group.

You might also look on Goodreads. They have some excellent forums on getteing published as well as the loops. Look up writers, writing erotica, etc.
One of my editors is offering a Male POV course. I am thinking of taking it. He says I don't need it but I would like to do it just so my gay erotica will not sound too girly... ;)

I am just a natural romantic... I like my /m hot, sensual and emotional...

I write a as gay man pretty often... I find it fun to change genders when writing...
It was not meant to toot own own horn, I was interested to see how many on here are published at houses.

Please feel free to remove the thread if need be.

And btw, my links dont work and I'm over 20...

Make me believe it. The story I mean and the characters. I want to see them in my mind. I want to "feel" what they're feeling. One author on site actually was gifted enough to make me choke/tear up when reading his story. Read any good book that's been published in the real world and you'll get an idea of it. Stephan king, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Holden Caulfield, etc. "The devil is in the details."

Now that is awesome. I hope to be able to move my readers like that...

I would put in some pent-up tension adn emotions that leads up to the sex. i would like to know what the characters are thinking and how they arrive to a certain point in teh story. I'm both a writer and reader, so I want to connect with the people, eventhough they're figments fo someone's imagination.

I totally agree! I love stories with as much tension as possible so that when and if they get together, the sex is a lot hotter.

Greetings,

What kind of stories are more of a turn on... More sexual or more emotional stories with lots of tension before sex?

Long time no see missy - I missed you. Happy new year girly! Where the hell you been hiding!
I'd say seen as ain't heard from you for months; emotion definatly!

@Honey Hey hon, been writing like a mad woman!

Good to see you too. I'll try to be more visible.

@Sprite, I hear you. I definitely want to connect with my characters. The same goes for when I read. If I dont like the characters in the tale, I usually lose interest n the book.

Someone pulled you up for linking to our largest online competitor, you're painting a totally different picture there.

Did not mean to, only wondered why there was not a thread like they had on that site.

You can go about with only one or the other, but how you explain the actions and details, as well as the flow of the words and imagery used is what makes or breaks a good story. I think giving the characters personality makes for a much better story than just, "Here is bob, bob finds sally hot, so one day at a party they were alone and decided to have sex" I find some stories on Lush sloppy and honestly not worth being compared to ones that are actually deserving of recognition for being good.

Still we all have varying opinions.

I totally agree with you. Since I am an author, I wonder what the readers here would like to see more of. I have a few ideas that I wpuld like to expound on, so I am polling the readers here to see what would be of interest to them.

Where are you published Rawiya?

All the authors here are published...on lush

I'm published here and I have some stories with a few publishing houses. biggrin

Did not want to go into detail since I have learned today it might be considered spamming. : /

Hello,

I am really surprised to see that there is not a thread for Lush authors who are published. Can we have a roll call? I don't think you can promote in the thread unless it is in your sig.

I'll wait for responses, then join in...

Greetings,

What kind of stories are more of a turn on... More sexual or more emotional stories with lots of tension before sex?

I think that is an awesome idea. I would not mind converting some of mine to PDF
Very interesting how our society is so accepting of bisexual women and not of gay or bisexual men.

I believe that if humans would just accept one another for who they are, more men would come out and say that they have an attraction to their male counterparts. So tired of stereotypes!

ARRGHHH

*A happy gay man inside a womans body...*
I do get a tingle or two reading my own work at times. Writing about 2 men having sex definitely gets me off.

When I gp back and read, I am often aroused by the images that play back in my mind. ;)
Inspirat from ion comes from dreams, music, or even conversations that I have had from my friends. I don't really suffer from writers block. I just know sometimes when a good story is ready to be penned!
Anybody who knows me is aware that I am a Duran Duran fan so of course it would be them.

Now non Durans?

My fave man other than them is David Taylor, Gay porn actor. I would show a pic but mine aren't working...=(

The ladies because I am a happy bigal

Megan Fox
Angelina Jolie
Zoe Saldana
Garcelle Beauvais Nilon
Angie Everheart
YES YES YES And HELL YES!

It turns me on...so on I watch Gay porn DAILY.

If I had money, I would direct gay porn. Cannot get enough of it.

Sometimes, I wish my hubby were Bi but alas...

Ah well. I still write my stories and have my fantasies. That's all I need I guess...
Being in love and married is wonderful. The sex is better when you love that person!

I really wish that men who do have bi tendencies be more open with themselves.

I mean, yes it is more socially acceptable which is utter BS but, I think if you have the curiosity and desire to be with someone of the same sex, don;t hide it. I don't...

I'm a bi-female who loves bi men and who loves writing m/m.

Happy to say so too!
As an author of fan fic and erotica, I appreciate when people comment.

Negative or positive it feels like someone is paying attention. nothing worse than writing and not have SOMEONE tell you that the story was good or a good attempt.
