😀 That was clever. And I am more than picky, too. I don’t know if it’s called Anal or OCD or what, but stuff like that drives me CRAZY! 🥴 Seeing that little “l” is seriously driving me nuts! 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Another example is if a cashier hands me bills all turned different ways. I can’t leave store until I’ve turned them all the same way. 😵💫
Be careful using that term in this joint. Word has it they let sex writers in here 😳🙀

Oh, and it lags when I hit Submit, which doesn't seem to happen in other threads. Maybe it's gotten too long or something? I know another site I am on used to limit threads to 1000 posts due to issues when they got too long.
I've just been struggling get it to respond. I had to leave and come back just to quote you

And…here we are again, all gathered around to commiserate the occurrence of yet another Moan-day!
So, let's treat the symptoms, but not the cure…
CAFFEINE! The world's favourite drug!
Along with BOOZE, also the world's favourite drug!
All together now!
We're offering Spanish coffee! And Irish coffee! And Columbian coffee – with Kahlua, yet!
Basically, coffee, whipped cream, and whatever booze strikes your fancy…
If striking your fancy is your idea of a good time.
Meanwhile, Bertha's been cleaned out, spruced up, primed with Folgers Columbian medium-dark roast, and is perking away for those who take their coffee straight.
We have Red Rose and Ceylon tea in pots on the side, other teas in the box, and Swiss Miss chocolate sachets on the side.
And some chocolate-almond biscotti.
Is it? Being retired I don’t keep up with all that anymore 😎

That's kind of my direction, too. Just not sure yet when "my retirement" is. Was going to shoot for 60 (i.e. next year) but I've kind of backed off. Maybe in 2026.
I made it at 59 but Im disabled now so I had little choice. Fortunately I'm a meticulous planner and well-versed in the benefits offered by both my company and the government.

going thru the same the past few years. stories are few and far btwn these days. of course, I have other creative outlets to keep me busy, so it's not so bad. and I do write something from time to time, even going to give it a shot with the comp, tho I keep saying that and I keep not doing it. lol
I'm glad you had other outlets for your creativity. You are a person of wonderful talent so its good you have outlets. I always knew writing would be a part of my retirement. So, after I did and moved to Tennessee I'm making use of the peace and quiet. It feels good to write again and hopefully reconnect with whatever friends are still here.
Good to see you and maybe give another story a chance. We'd all like to see you post one again

Not likely. I have so many half-finished, maybe abandoned stories around, I am loath to add another. My mood tanked this past week (hence my suggestion I was leaving) and is still not really conducive to productive writing. And mystery is a genre that I have not really touched before so will take some serious work, especially trying to figure out a sexual element. If this was SS I would be in hands-down but not sure erotic mystery is what I need right now.
I understand Burnout. I walked away for almost 5 years without even an itch to write anything. It turns out job stress was at least part of the problem. Now that ive retired i have a desire again.
Now it remains to see if i can still compose long prose anymore
Anyway its good to see you again. Id hate it if you left just as i came back but i do get it if thats where you are 🤷♂️

Morning, Rumpies!
Stay safe today with crazy weather in so many parts. My anxiety’s outta control. High wind warnings for the next 12 hours with widespread power outages expected, and I’m surrounded by huge trees and above-ground power lines. 😨
I’m trying to work, but mostly not.
I’m getting heavy rain at the moment and we had some strong wind earlier. I was gonna drive Simmie into Waverly today for a special hair appointment but we canceled that. I don’t want to drive all that way in this weather.
I’m gonna get a cup of Jo from Big Bertha. Now, where we those donuts

I have not seen him on the site in forever, Milik. Sadly, several long-time members have passed in the last few years: Green_Man (Larry), and KiteAres. 💔
Yeah. I’m afraid something may have happend. If anyone knows anything I’d appreciate a heads up.
Now, you all may return to your regularly scheduled drinking

I may LOOK cute and cuddly, but don't press your luck!
OUTSIDE.
Either that, or try to convince the ladies to allow you to smoke in their restroom.
And good luck with that!
I’m gonna call the contractor to renovate the bathroom into something expensive. I hope your petty cash is well stocked. 🔥😎
A quick and serious question. My old friend Jwren has not been around nor is his RL girlfriend who once was a mod. He account is deleted while his remains.
Has anyone heard how he is doing? The last communication Simmie had with him was that he was as not feeling well at all and we worry about his well being. I wrote him when I returned and so far I’ve received no answer

Hi Jen,
While the rest is clear to me, I do think this sentence needs more clarification. Are you saying, you want authors to deliberately write bad grammar, like not using capital letters, deliberately poor sentence structures... etc etc and does it go as far as poor spelling?
Or are you saying the moderators will let poor grammar go? Things like commas, colons, and my favourite, ellipses. To encourage new woodbee whodunnit authors to enter?
This is an excellent point. And should it be limited to dialog? That usually is a place grammar can drift. But in the narration? That's an interesting concept.
And do we get points of if we don't?

Fuzzy Lion update!
I text with Carl this morning. He said to tell you all, “Hi!” and that he’s improving daily and hopes to be out and about by October 23rd.
For anyone who missed the news, a horse stepped on his foot and Carl ended up having a toe amputated. He had a rough go, but sounds like he’s a lot better now. Continued well wishes for him!!! ❤️
I told him the Rump’s gang miss him!
@Milik: I told Carl (Fuzzy1954) you’d popped in and he said he remembers you and to tell you, “Welcome HOME! Glad you’re back.”
Thanks! I'm enjoying the chance to reconnect with some old friends. Give him my condolences on his toe. At least he has a funny story to go along with it.
Okay, barkeep. Don't mind me if I hope over the bar and help myself to the REAL top shelf booze. I can smell cheap swill even if its poured into a good bottle.
And when are the strippers getting here? Don't we have any strippers working in this place?
Oh, there we go. Que up the music ladies and gents. Its showtime
I say dump it. Even short novels are broken into chapters that are better posted under each ones primary content. Novels is too large a tent to allow anyone to easily sort through for specific interests. To me, it really serves no purpose. And I've have several posted as my own or through collaboration and the only reason any chapter is under Novels was only to checkmark that off my Omnium chase.
Unless all the chapters can be posted as a group one would still have to search far and wide to find all the chapters anyway. There is literally no point in having it

We tried one of those Roombas, and the damn thing kept getting stuck under my brother's bed. So much for being a "smart" vacuum! We have mostly tile anyway, so we gave it to our daughter. 🤣
Oh, I love my Roombas. They keep up the stray dog hair and dust from my wood floors. And I hate to vacuum. I don't mind using a machine for labor. That's what they are for
I can understand using a program like Grammarly to edit but I don't see the point in using AI to write a story. Unless you want to read a certain kind that no one else wrote. But to use a program to create a story instead of writing it? Why? Why even to steal credit? There is a satisfaction in the creation of a story. From its concept to completion its a product of your skill and imagination. I'd see no point in farming that out to a program 🤷♂️
Well. It appears that just as I became convinced my story didn't belong in Micro Fiction Moderation decided it did. For this I am grateful. For any who wish to read it here is a link

Having found the thread on Microfiction I feel I was in the wrong for posting it under that category. I have it now under poetry but if its rejected there well, it wasn't something I spent a lot of time on anyway.
And I would think a Halloween theme might be interesting if that is indeed what they pick.
