Late Stage Capitalism : Enter Fast Food Surge Pricing

Wendy’s, who is perpetually struggling to maintain a customer base in a crowded fast food field, is experimenting with adding surge pricing to their busiest times. So eating at, say dinner time, will now cost you extra money.

As a note McDonalds has already played around with this and found it made customers fucking livid. Depending on how the bills and display board are set up it’s also untested legal grounds.

Fast food has been actually doing poorly in recent years. Profit margins are shrinking as smaller and higher quality businesses are able to grab a larger market share without having to rely on the huge amount of staffing some chains need to maintain.

And this solution seems poised to anger customers and a work force that’s increasingly willing to leave. Do you want to get screamed at as an hourly employee because corporate jacked prices on a customer? When two people have the same order minutes apart and one is getting charged more.

And if it weren’t already obvious, surge pricing will not come with discounts for off-peak hours.

Lol.

You know what’s really messed up? $6.25 is lowballing the Wendy’s menu.

That pineapple mango lemonade slaps, though.

Go to Wendy’s drive through. Get a frosty. Go to the McDonald’s drive through. Get the fries. Dip the fries into the frosty.

It tastes so good because it’s so naughty.

So… they are adding a tariff during popular times in the hope it will increase profit…

Might be easier to overthrow the feudal overlords than I thought.

Looks like they changed their minds. See? Bullying works after all.

Lol, that quick rollback. "We meant discounts all along. Please stop flaming us."

Maybe someone finally convinced the board members that telling customers they need to pay a premium price to eat at dinner isn't an appealing business model for consumers.

I was in a Target yesterday. Cheezits were $6.19 a box. Thats outrageous.

It was a stupid idea and should of been killed in the marketing meeting when first brought up.

Wendy's should go back to the basics, offer best possible product, with great service, and at a very competitive price.

Just another reason to never eat there.

We have these places in Paris, and I despair. These are multi-billion dollar enterprises, yet, on the same boulevard, sometimes next door is a family-run cafe or restaurant, perhaps in the family for over 100 years. They cook from fresh ingredients with no surge pricing, catering for all budgets, and there is a community of people there.

I will not need to draw you a map. People get the food they deserve.

This is my collection of muses and stories. Stories of note include:

Little Bird - A true story of submission and dominance set in Paris between an older couple and their younger lover.

Le Weekend - Six lives intertwined during one weekend create events that change their lives forever.

I ate at a Wendy's in Colorado Springs in...the mid 1970s, out of necessity. Less than 2 hours later, I was vomiting chunks (through my nostrils) of whatever crap it was I ingested earlier (and I was literally starving at that time) - my father was driving, he and I and my two brothers were launching our 1st annual (and only time) Rocky Mountain vacation, in the 1975 Cordoba (with Corinthian leather) while pulling a pop-up PUMA tent camper up to 9500 ft above sea level. Mom had the good sense to stay home, alone (maybe) for the next two weeks.

I've never stopped at or ordered Wendy's slop again. Some places, people just shouldn't eat at. Wendy's is one of those dumps.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

I had an ex who worked at wendy's when she was a teenager and she told me that the meat in the chili is all the chunks n shit that gets stuck on the grill throughout the day... they collect it all at some point and dump it in the chili.

There are so many fast food urban legends like that. My cousins in Louisiana have told me that some of the Taco Bell chains down there use nutria (giant invasive rodents that look like smaller capybara and love ditches and canals) in the taco meat.

It's not an urban legend though, they really do that with the chili meat.

Absolutely not. I am picky about chili. To date, I only eat chili cooked by me or my dad.

Wendy’s chili is a meatless mix that’s a ‘just add water and heat’ deal. They pre-cook burgers for service and put them in a warmer. Leftover burgers are chopped and added to the chili

Honestly it’s efficient and ain’t a bad chili at all for the price. That being said I have not had it in years so my info may be old.

solved the problem years ago. i don't eat at fast food places. period.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Immigrants get all the better paying jobs which ordinary Americans find too repulsive to entertain the thought of accepting.

Case in point...

I don't think it will run afoul of legal issues. Hotel and motels have a "Rack Rate" which must be posted in the room and is the highest rate it can charge. I've seen rack rates of $250 a nite in a $50 motel room. Vegas is notorious for this. You can get almost free rooms in the week where there is no major event. But check pricing during the AVN awards, DEFCon, or the UFO convention. Those $24.00 rooms will cost hundreds. I think it will fuck them if they do it. I know I would be furious. I still won't enter any business that refused me service for not wearing a mask. I had medical reasons.

Wendy's chili DOES use uneaten hamburger meat. Perfectly safe. Nothing wrong with that. Urban legends aside, you must realize teenagers are behind the scenes. If one spills a box of frozen hamburger patties or even french fries on the floor, you better believe it aint headed to the dumpster.

Food Inspectors show up unexpectedly at any time, rush or slow. If the urban legend violations mentioned above are true, they would or will eventually get caught and shut down.

And restaurants do get shut down. I know of a Chinese Restaurant that was caught with cat carcasses in their freezer.

The really scary part is: what do you think happens at upscale restaurants?

I don't have a problem with surge pricing in itself, I'll shop with my feet. Its been going on for years in the gasoline industry. It basic supply and demand economics. It does feel a bit gougy but I won't be eating there anyway.

I don't have a problem with surge pricing either. Capitalism at it finest. I simply won't partake if I notice. My brother worked at an upscale steakhouse. A dropped frozen steak was fair game for hockey if the boss wasn't around. After which it was brushed off and cooked. Again perfectly safe. They cooked them fully frozen, so nothing noticing would stick to it, and cooking kills any bacteria it might pick up. I assume this is common when you have teenage boys working in the kitchen.
