What is your favorite?

Another not on the list?

What is your favorite meal to get after midnight if you've been out clubbing and partying?

If you'll pay me a visit to Canada or the US I'll let you know. Deal?

You could write a book called, Noll's North American Diner Tour Diary.

Feel free to name your favorite restaurant in The Netherlands that resembles as much as possible, a North American 24 hour diner.

Diners are very popular scene settings for Hollywood movies, such as the robbery/hostage scene at the very beginning and end of Pulp Fiction.

C'mon people, let's have your vote and favorite diner.
I have no idea what this is all about. But if you come to a decision, let me know, and I'll pay the winner a visit when I eventually make it over there.

IHOP, of course.
Salisbury House
Denny's...if only because it's a default.

Denny's is definitely a default.
Chipotle too.
I like IHOP and Village Inn, though I don't like pancakes, and always give my pancakes to my kids.

Generally I like weird little diners on the Main streets of small towns - we have a lot of small towns in Colorado. And Iowa, where I grew up.

My favorite diner ever (I used to work there in my misspent youth) used to be a chain, but now there is only one:

When i was in the Navy I spent many nights at Denny's. Now I am old and don't go clubbing anymore but I visit a local diner.

The only one of these I've ever eaten at is IHOP, and only because one of my friends likes going there for breakfast. I usually dine at non-chains, or at least better food chains like Abuelo's.
I'll go with Waffle House #1, IHOP #2, & Denny's #3.
I like either pancakes or waffles after a night out late.
Dennys first, IHOP , Second
I eat local when I can. Austin is lucky that we haven't been over-run by plasticky chains. If anyone finds themselves in Austin, here are my non-fancy dining choices.

Kerbey Lane Cafe
Texas Chili Parlor
Hut's Hamburgers
Threadgill's
Cherry Creek Catfish
Matt's El Rancho
Franklin BBQ
Milto's Pizza
Dan's Hamburgers
Burger Tex
Casa Garcia's
Hoover's Cooking
Magnolia Cafe
Mother's Cafe
Salt Lick BBQ
Sandy's Hamburgers
Sichuan River
Torchy's Tacos

Huddle House is my favorite, but they're getting harder to find. A lot of them in this area closed up. I wouldn't put Denny's in second place because I prefer waffles to pancakes, but I like Denny's because of the oatmeal. I've never liked IHOP. If I'm looking for a place just to sit with friends and drink coffee, I'd go with the Huddle House or Waffle House.

Actually, we don't have most of those up here in any large numbers. Denny's is around and I think there are some Big Boy. The others may be up here and just not in my area, I suppose. So I can't really pick one as I haven't been to most of them (IHOP, yeah, but it was a long time ago). And diner food isn't really my thing generally anyway.
Mel's Drive in in SF.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I don't think we have any 24 hour diners here, let alone chains of them.

Will you personally take me to all of these places?
You bet, Laura. When will you be here?

Hmmm... virgin territory, huh? Maybe we should exploit that.

Maybe they already tried that and there's a reason we don't have them ;) We do have pizza and dönner/shoarma places for midnight snacks though.

BTW, I'll be hanging out at this place next month:

Not sure if the food is up to your standards but the interior seems pretty American classic to me ;)

Cinnabons.
Well around here, of the above we only have IHOP and Denny's.

In truth though, I try to patronize small mom and pop or local diners. In LA, either Nickel Diner or Norms. In Seattle, Thirteen Coins.
In this part of Canada (West Coast) we only have the odd IHOP and a few more Denny's. I have no idea of any of the other restaurants on the list ... but I'll remember Waffel House for my next US trip (if I can get through the border! lol).

West Coast has White Spot.

"Diner chains" are not very common here in Canada. Though there are some awesome stand-alone diners for those of you visiting Vancouver:

Lucy's Eastside Diner

The Templeton

Sophie's Cosmic Cafe

Sunshine Diner

The Farmer's Apprentice

Bon appetite!
