Announcing our Island Getaway competition

There is something special about an island. Isolated or not, they are their own little microcosms of civilization.

We want to read your sexy stories situated on an island. Maybe you’re having a summer getaway to an idyllic adults-only paradise. Maybe you’ve been marooned and washed ashore, not knowing what or who awaits you. Or maybe you’ve uprooted your mainland life in favour of a slower island life.

The setting doesn’t have to be hot, but the stories need to be. We want steamy, sordid details of everything your characters get up to in the bedroom, or the workplace, or the beach... you get the picture.

Stories should be a maximum of 4,000 words (no poetry or micros please) and as always, we encourage you to use our large category list to help with ideas.

This competition will run through May.

Closing date: Saturday May 31st

Announcement date: Monday 9th June

Love the idea behind the new competition. Plenty of scope there for innovative ideas, especially with 4,000 words! 😊

On the one hand, yippee. I have two drafts here that fit, or could be modified a bit to fit, the theme.

On the other hand, groan. Both are already not going to make the 4000 word limit without seriously nerfing some of the story and character development that I have planned.

So, probably back to the drawing board for this one rather than using one of those.

Great comp idea and I love the front page banner image for it.

Absolutely. I'm all about thinking and writing outside the square these days, so mine definitely won't be about a group of horny Uni graduates in Bali in 2025.

It is not.

I’ve already got a story outlined that is island based, but so far it’s not super original. MI’ll have to figure out as I go how to make it unique enough to be competition worthy. Part of the fun.

When I saw the theme, I had a brilliant idea for an adventure on an island with genetically engineered dinosaurs. Turns out, some gilpolla has already done it😢

Ooh, this is very tempting. However, I am very behind on all my writing, as for reading... I am so very sorry to everyone.

An island adventure? I have a few ideas. Time? I wish I were marooned, I would have time to write.

I actually have a longstanding "stranded/exiled on a lost island" piece but cutting it back to 4000 words ain't happening now.
