Not naming any names but I do know of authors that have written stories when they were a virgin. They were great stories, but I did guess correctly that they were a virgin from their writing.

It is possible, but its just a bit harder to capture the feelings when you haven't experienced them. This doesn't just stand for writers that are virgins, but writing about anything that you haven't lived through is always going to be harder.

If you ever want anyone to give your writing a read before you submit to give feedback, send me a message.

Though you do come across the uber talented writers that can write damn near everything and do it well, even if they haven't experienced it whether that be sex or something else.

All I can say is practice, practice, practice.

Yes there are always going to be the lucky people with absolute natural talent and ability. I did also say it is possible to do if you hadn't experienced it, but for the vast majority of us not having the experience is going to make it more of a challenge.

You right with what you say though - Practice enough and it makes perfect - Not just with writing

Yes. . .it's most certainly possible because you have your imagination and fantasies. Write what you feel and you'll be fine.

I have eventually sat down and written a story. It is fairly short but i am hoping that by using the reviews from this one i will be able to write better. It has been a while since i was at school so please excuse some of my grammar. Thanks for all the help. Please read, enjoy and give me some constructive criticism. Thanks.

Stephen Crane wrote one of the greatest American war novels - The Red Badge of Courage, of course - even though he'd been born after the Civil War, and without having ever been in a battle himself at that point in his life. I believe Edgar Rice Burroughs had never set foot in Africa, despite creating Tarzan.

The notion that you have to "live" what you write about, or the whole "write what you know" school of thinking is a myth. I remember hearing a story about Hemingway once when he was a war correspondent in Europe, sitting in a bunker when it was attacked. Everyone was running for cover except Hemingway, who said he wanted to know how it felt to get hit. Stupid motherfucker who just had a death wish and one of the most grossly overrated writers who ever lived.

Fuck what you know. Write what you feel.

This is why I love you.

Absolutely well done! I haven't read your story (yet), but I am so impressed that you have you gone ahead and done this. You got the biggest hurdle over with a flying leap, which is beginning to write. And you're verified and posted! Many people who aren't virgins can't even get that far.

Top stuff, lad! You should be very proud of yourself. Remember, not all criticism is correct, but we can weigh and balance all feedback, and decide what to do with it going forward. Well done!

I'm arriving late to this thread but congratulations on posting your first story - hopefully the first of many.

I'm a virgin and I've written over 30 stories on the site. I don't find them good myself, but judging by the feedback of many, they are. I just write as a way to express my fantasies and sexual side, I use the experience I do have in the bedroom and amplify it.

Yes I did with my first story I posted here,as long as you have a good imagination. The thing is you have had lots of time to think about it to a point where it is easy.

Can you write a good murder mystery if you've never killed anyone before? Can you write a story about visiting a distant planet even if the laws of physics prohibit faster than light travel? If you are capable of empathizing with other humans, then you are capable of writing any story in any genre. Write what you know. You might not know exactly what it feels like to be inside a woman, but you can imagine the emotions you would feel when making love to her. Concentrate on that. Instead of filling your story with detailed descriptions of actions you might not be comfortable describing, write instead about the characters feel inside. Wonder, excitement. fear, disappointment, or anything you think they would feel. Sex stories don't have to be a how-to manual for fucking. Use what you know, any experience you have, and expand upon it. Read what others have written about it. Use your fantasies. And stop worrying! Write from the heart, and you'll do just fine.

There are many virgins on Lush who write. I can think of four right off the top of my head and I've read their work and they do very well.

If you've ever masturbated, watched porn or hell, have a good imagination you can pull of a great story! You just need to put in the effort, as does everyone. smile Best of luck.

Ok so i am a 20 year old male and i am still a virgin. I have been reading these stories for a while and would love to write one. Do you think it is possible to capture the emotion and feelings behind a sex story if you havent experienced sex? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Of Course it is!

ALL writers write about shit they can't/don't do... (In Your Case YET!) Travelling in Space, plotting assasinations, opening a Chocolate Factory...

Just Write!

Oh yes. If you read my stories, you'll find that they may read as if they are nonfiction, when in truth, all but one ("My Favourite Word", which really does describe both one of my favourite words and acts) are entirely fiction. The places described in my stories are all quite real, and I do tend to describe myself when describing the female protagonist, but aside from those two bits, more or less straight up fiction. I mean, I have experienced sex, but it's been about as vanilla as it comes (no pun intended) and I certainly haven't done the things described in, say, "Tension".

As someone else pointed out, writers write about all kinds of things without having actually experienced those things, murder mysteries being a case in point. And practice, practice, practice, and read, read anything, nonfiction or fiction, that you can get your hands on (or download, I suppose--I am a bit of a throwback in preferring the heavy weight of a well-written book or well-edited anthology of stories to the glow of a Kindle).

I agree with what the others are saying. while my stories may have some small elements of real experience in them, the majority are figments of my imagination. a lot of the lesbian stories were written before my first encounter in that arena, some even before I realized I wanted to explore that aspect of myself. I just got through writing a story of gay sex, and I sure don't have the right equipment for that! And my current series Angela is about many things that I not only have NOT done, but that I would never consider doing.

I used writing as an outlet when I was younger and couldn't have sex. Some of my best works came from when I was a virgin.

"Female-friendly" porn helped me out with capturing the sensuality of love making. That genre of porn is more of slow, gentle lovemaking for the ladies and not aggressive, flashy aspects like other genres. It demonstrated the impact of what genuine pleasure did for a sexual creature like the human woman. I miss those days! The exploration was fantastic!

I believe it is possible but you would need a vivid imagination but many people generally have that when it comes to sex anyway. You could try writing about masturbation or perhaps just try writing a story and letting them know you don't really have any sexual experience.

I think it's possible yes. I can write sex involving men and yet I don't know what it's like to be a man. But I've talked to them and I can imagine enough to write a story. I suppose if you're a virgin it doesn't stop you talking to people, doing research and using your imagination.

I don't think anyone has actually ever traveled to Middle Earth or destroyed a Death Star, but believability was definitely a selling point in those storylines...

Yes... Several of the stories I have here on lush (I won't tell you which ones) were written long before I had experienced the "real thing"

I wrote a Cuckold story without actually being cuckolded. The Diary.

I think part of the creativity and fun of writing is being to combine your imagination with your writing skills. If my stories were all autobiographies they would bore you to death. Lol. I've always been a monogamous kind of guy. Did do a few kinky things like a threesome but not enough things to qualify as sexually interesting enough to model my own erotic stories.

All that said... I've done some pretty crazy non sexual shit. Ask me some time and I'll share with you.

Yes,I have wrote my first 2 stories about 3 or 4 years ago.And I was a virgin at the time. But I just emulated the feeling in my head and in my body,I'm not a virgin anymore, and I'm rarely sexually active, but I understand were your coming from. I have the imagination but I know I lack the experience. But I can still mange to think of a good story idea.

One thing to consider is that sex is a relatively common human experience. So saying something like, "Oh but so and so wrote brilliantly about intergalactic travels without having actually done it," becomes moot. How many people have actually galaxy-hopped vs. gotten laid?

But having said that... yes, I think you can create a great sex story without the relevant experience. An author's (in)experience, so to speak, is not the first thing that comes to mind when I'm reading a Lush story. It will come into question though, if the technicalities of the deed feel overtly fudged or are just plain wrong. The best thing someone who's not yet sexually active can do (hate using the V-word) is to use what they know, fact check it with people who know better, and just tap into what they might feel in that moment. Most importantly though is that you enjoy the writing process.

The only reason I ever got into reading erotica was becuase I was SO curious about sex. I'd never done it and reading stuff off Lush was exciting and inspiring. I didn't write anything while still being a virgin but I had very little experience when I started writing; most of my stories were creative - not an actual decription of things that happened. I'm pretty sure that most people who write about huge sex parties haven't ACTUALLY experienced them; it's more of putting a fantasy into words and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you read sex stories, you can write sex stories, no matter what your virgin-status.

Yes, of course. I don't think you necessarily need to experience something to write about it. What you need is imagination, writing skills and documentation.

I don't expect mystery writers to have commited/solved any murders...
