The French movie Irreversible was pretty disturbing - I though the guy getting his face caved in with a fire extinguisher was bad enough, and then it got to a twenty minute scene... The cinematography was great, but didn't make up for that. Horrible.

I only left once,,,in '79 NYC at the premiere of "Caligula" when they fed the dogs somebody's ding dong.

<Katie-Girl in my profile picture: "That's it, Cully, let's go, now!"

I'd only went for the lesbian scenes and never got 'em.

Has anyone seen Hereditary (2018)?

I've yet to watch that ( surprised? )

Not many movies have disturbed me the only one I can really think of that did was Salo or the 120 days of sodom

I am definitely there with you girl cause that 70s italian movie wrecked me forever! I have heard about one though which is ranked in the top 10 most fucked up movies ever cause it really goes so far beyond any fucked up shit human could ever imagine and even if I have never seen it I am pretty sure it is the worst ever : "A Serbian Film". I have only read reviews and I got traumatized only doing so, so watching it will be a no go for me...not worth it! Some images can haunt us forever and there is no unseeing it.

Glad I am not alone with Salo though.

Jesus Christ that was....phew. And then Toni Collette's wailing along with the aftermath with all of the ants crawling around. Boy oh boy.

The Excorcist was pretty damn disturbing. Watch it at ages 7 and 18. I'm never watching that in it's entirety again even though I'm way older now.

Irreversible by Gaspar Noe, is still one of the only movies that can literally make me feel sick.. the opening shot is designed to make you sick... it’s a warning of what’s to come.

Noe’s I Stand Alone is pretty fucked too. Maybe more.

Yes agreed. Although the whole concept of the movie isn’t all that crazy and is about a very real thing that happens everyday.. maybe that’s what’s disturbing since it’s shown in such a completely horrific and raw way. A very real threat. And then it leaves you meditating on revenge and how pointless that can be.

this. personally, while i would never want to watch it, i applaud a film that really gets in the audiences face about something like this and makes beyond uncomfortable. too many movies take the subject of sexual assault and gloss over the reality. a cinematic scene SHOULD leave people feeling sick to their stomach.

I agree wholeheartedly Sprite and not just sexual assault/ , but anything that affects modern society --- racism, sexism, income inequality, equity (which is NOT the same thing as equality), etc. Violence far too often is glorified and I just believe it is part of the rising incidents of violence in every strata and aspect of society. We've become numb to all the violence we live in daily and have accepted as "normal" instead of abnormal and detestable.
