I recently watched a movie from 2001 called "Ken Park."

It was probably the most explicit film I have ever seen. The opening scene was a kid shooting himself in the head at a skateboarding park.

And that was the least disturbing moment of this movie.

It follows 4 teenagers and their fucked up families.

Full on auto erotic asphyxiation, sex with teenagers (which can not have been anything other than real sex.)

Full on frontal nudity and full on masturbation. The cum looked fake though... and if it was not, that guy should drink more water.

That film that Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson did was disturbing.

Other than that, there was a film a few years ago we watched in health class when we did a unit on mental health. We need to talk about Kevin, or let's talk about Kevin, something like that. In terms of other movies, not that disturbing but yeah, at the time when I watched it as a teenager it was.

There was one I watched about Jeff Dahmer, that had it's moments too. And to know it was real life and the events actually happened. I learned after the movie that when a woman in his apartment block found out about what happened, she threw up as they'd had cookouts in the apartment and dinner parties, etc and he was a regular contributor to those. I guess with Jeff Dahmer engaging in cannibalism, you would worry that he had put in something extra to the cooking.

I feel like mentioning it will get this post removed. However...

I Spit on Your Grave. (Whatever the original one was).

Don't watch it. Every trigger warning under the sun.

"We Need to Talk About Kevin" is a really good movie.

It's based on a book that is also apparently very good.

The Wahnsee Conference, a drama based on the minutes of the meeting the Nazi brass held to plan the Holocaust.

Not disturbing in terms of gore or violence or such. It's disturbing because on the surface, it's a bunch of guys having a business meeting. One guy plays with his dogs. They flirt with the secretary there to take minutes. But then, as they actually discuss business, you start taking in what that business is and ... yeah, this is the banality of evil played out. It reminds us that these were not raging monsters like a Dahmer, but hard-working guys who meticulously planned how to kill millions, then went for a beer after work.

There is also a movie based on that called "Conspiracy," from 2001 with Kenneth Branaugh and Stanley Tucci. It has a 7.7 on IMDB. It is very slow though.

Just saw that. It really is disturbing. I had to watch Seinfeld afterward as a palate cleanser.

I agree, I Spit On Your Grave was pretty disturbing.

I once saw a crazy movie called Blood Sucking Freaks that was very frikkin disturbing. I'd say it wins the prize.

So is The Wahnsee Conference. Downside of the subject matter, I think.

I watched "the Butterfly Effect" once. Once. Never again. I watched "the Butterfly Effect" once.

"The Punished Nonpartisan" <- Extreme BDSM and humiliation story. Heavy on plot. Served on a plate of political drama with a side of domestic terror. Currently Free download.

Jocelyn the Wicked <- futanari, fantasy fan fic, and some tentacles that escaped the laboratory

The most disturbing movie I've ever seen was Mysterious Skin. It depressed me for a few weeks, because of how sad it was. I won't give any details.

It's a very depressing film though.

There's a thread like this one already.

I still haven't watched a film that's left me feeling disturbed.

I've watched the film's mentioned above too.

Michael Haneke's Funny Games (either his original or his remake with Tim Roth) was pretty disturbing. Probably pipped to the post by Ben Wheatley's Kill List. Michael Smiley, whom I'd previously only seen as Tyres in 'Spaced', was amazing as one of the hitmen.

Those are probably fairly tame compared to some psychological thrillers out there, but then I thought Se7en was fucking dark.

Yeah, I have to agree with you on Kill List. Very unsettling.

Sean Connery wearing this get up for the entire movie is pretty disturbing

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

The Human Centipede is up there for me. Don't even remember why the fuck I ended up on it. *shudders*

Just reading about those movies creeps me out, so they are not being watched here. Ever.

The very existence of "torture porn" disturbs me. Even mild torture scenes give me the willies.

Believe it or not, they made three of them.

Andy Warhol's Frankenstein. That one disturbed both of us. Eraserhead was another one.

Yeah, I don't normally do horror. That movie was in a twilight zone far beyond horror.
I had to have been at someone else's house when I had the misfortune of watching bits. *shudders again*

Vanessa, you're not missing anything.

Edit: I'm adding Sausage Party to my list of unwatchable movies. That shit was awful.

"Hostel" gave me some really fucked up nightmares.

And also "Snowpiercer", which is a brilliant movie, but caused me significant distress.

The only time I watched Sausage Party I was high and I can't remember anything other than a lesbian taco?

I imagine I'd hate human centipede mostly because the idea of being stuck to one person much less two is nightmare fuel.

Other fucked up films

Martyrs
Cannibal holocaust
Inside
Braindead
Deadgirl
Pink flamingos
Island of death

Ken Park was fairly disturbing yes, and after seeing a couple of Larry Clark films, I would have him on some kind of register.

The Human Centipede, yes, a truly awful film, as was A Serbian Film. Disturbing and terrible.

"Come and See"

It's a story about the true events of the early Holocaust, absolutely harrowing.

I sincerely doubt I will see anything even half as disturbing as reality.

Notable because it has no period footage; it's shot entirely in the present (then the 1980s).

One of the smaller scenes that got to me: the Polish kids wandering through the remains of a barbed-wire fence at one of the concentration camp sites. Decades ago one would be shot for even approaching that fence. Now in some sense it is just another place. Sad and hopeful at the same time.

Best Holocaust writer: I'd nominate Primo Levy.
