Broken and unsure is how you found me 
shattered pieces of who once was there 
each filled with pain for none to see
hidden behind this mask I share

The mask was my refuge to wear
It disguised who I wanted you to see
Hidden safe waiting to feel without fear 
unconvinced you could truly love me

We've found in each other something rare
Soulmates forever that is so true
Pet to her Master the perfect pair 
A completeness that I never knew

Your hand on my shoulder so loving so real
In your arms I find peace and care
Taking on the pain that I feel 
A strength within you share 

The mask stripped you can see me 
With that strength I choose to kneel
You guide me as a trainee
Mastering with love and zeal

On this day and always I know you are near 
Even with the sea that keeps us apart 
Time and distance never makes me fear 
For you are here and make me believe in my heart
