A soulmate is not found
Within a Hallmark card
Nor can you pick one up
At the store when times are hard.
You can scour all of Tinder
And you may never swipe right
One cannot be ordered online
Nope, no soulmate in sight.
Let us not kid ourselves
Into thinking you can easily find
The person that is yours
The one that reads your mind.
You can check all the local pubs
He may never offer you a drink
Or try enrolling in a college class
But, for that, you have to think.
Check the local shopping mall
Spending all your money
Try walking along the beach
At least the weather’s sunny.
I didn’t want to simply give up
On finding my perfect mate
But I too exhausted all options
I was beginning to doubt fate.
I was about to abort this mission
And it happened without warning
Someone liked my love poems
Their black box said, ‘Good Morning’.
