Gearing up for a fun weekend in Canada with sis and part of her fam. Then the following week I will be in Michigan for the oldest’s wedding and have all my kids in one place again. That is a rarity, but it’s the second time in 3 months that I have had that luxury this year.

Pickleball starts up again today. Not sure if my arm is completely healed from a muscle strain so I’m on the fence about going. I have a half hour to decide.

Been binge watching “Stranger Things” recently and finally made it to start episode one of season 4. Didn’t finish it but I had to start it, otherwise the last episode of season 3 would have caused nightmares.

I’m hoping to submit the third part of the 4th Mac and Grace Novel today. I have some time after I take my brother swimming, so fingers crossed.

Hope the week is starting off well for all y’all. Will be getting things ready to go up to visit my sister this weekend. She’s near Grand Bend Ontario. Excited for our visit.

My youngest daughter got engaged this weekend! We are all over the moon. Three years ago this month her ex broke her heart and her spirit. It was an ugly split that cost her a good chunk of change to buy him out of her house. She had devoted 6 years to that relationship and was sure she would never fall in love or be happy again. But she developed a crush on a cute guy at work and the rest is history. She is so happy, as we all are.

So, in less than two weeks the older daughter will get married and her little sister will tie the knot next year. I’m just glad we started saving money for these weddings when they were little. LOL.

So drinks are on me today. And I actually mean on my tab not Bear’s. 🤣🤣🐻‍❄️

Another thought for the novels section would be to turn the 10K limit from a maximum to a minimum for that category, and allow stories to stretch out as long as they need to go (sort of like how minimum word limits are ignored for micros). This seems like a good way to bring misery and suffering to the story mods who have to read through and review these things.

Readers won’t commit to more than 10K at a time. I should know…my attention span is short.

Micro word limits aren’t ignored. The word counter you see is different from the word counter mods see.

I just don’t see the need to eliminate a category that has more pages of stories than many of the other genres. If writers choose to put their stories there and don’t feel like they are getting enough attention, they can change their genre. But, personally, I’ve been happy with my feedback on Mac and Grace stories. If something isn’t broken, why are we trying to fix it? Eliminate it as a requirement for Omnium if it’s such a big deal. But many writers write multi-part stories with only a few parts to satisfy checking off that box. I don’t see this as an issue.

We will be heading up to Canada next weekend to visit my sister and her husband. I’m looking forward to seeing them and enjoying some cooler weather. We have had heat advisories nearly every day. But then again, it’s August in Florida. Typical weather for this time of year. Had some friends over last night and couldn’t sit outside because the humidity was so high. 😳

It’s already 85 F and feels like 96 F because the humidity is 80% at not quite 8 am.

So I will grab an icy cold Coke Zero as my caffeine this morning.

Two weeks from tomorrow, my oldest daughter gets married! As far as I know, everything is ready. I just have to figure out which of the two dresses that I bought looks/feels better. I have shoes to match both just in case.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, WW. From my perspective, it chops things up. My novels are meant to be read as parts of a larger story and in the order which I’ve written them. I have other series that are broken up over different genres (Hot Wife Hotel, for example), where continuity isn’t an issue and having each part in its own specific genre makes sense. But the novels are complete stories. If I were to put a set of chapters into Spanking, it might suggest that it’s all about that. But the Mac and Grace stories contain a mix of so many different genres, I’d have to really dig deep to start reclassifying each part of the three existing books and the beginning of book four.

If people don’t want to write in this category, I totally get it. But I am just curious as to why the category can’t remain as is for those authors who prefer it. Drop it as a required genre for Omnium if it’s an issue, but leave it as an existing category for those of us for whom reclassifying seems unnecessary and a bit of a cluster-bleep in changing the genre for what amounts to about 100+ stories.

Congratulations! That is no easy feat! You have every right to be thrilled!

I am currently working on my fourth "novel" for Lush. That said, I understand that some folks don't want to write longer stories here. I always felt that doing so helped the challenge of earning the Omnium Badge be just a little more challenging (as it should be).

The comment about people still keeping their Omnium Badge seemed unnecessary. You're talking about eliminating a category, not adding one. So, it shouldn't affect that (except for some possible grumbling from authors who fulfilled the criteria for this category).

I voted to keep it, but I definitely understand the comments others have made as to why they voted otherwise. Personally, changing the categories seems like a lot of work, especially since changing the category requires mod reapproval, if I'm not mistaken.

In the past hour, a few authors have reached out to me for help. And I didn't even know this was being considered. 😳

I've asked them to wait until a decision is made, and then I will be happy to assist them.

My to-do list is just about done for the day, so I figured I would pop in for a glass of Moscato. The scale be damned, I earned this wine! 🍷🤣

I handled the last little details on my To-Do list for the wedding yesterday. I finally secured two stylists to do hair and makeup for myself and my three daughters (including my DIL who I consider my daughter) for the oldest one’s wedding later this month. They will come to the venue and make us all beautiful!

I also secured the reservation for the rehearsal dinner and sent the menu out to my adult children asking them to send me their orders so we can preorder. That way we will finish dinner in a timely manner and make it to our boat excursion on time. After the boat ride, we will play glow golf at the resort.

I can’t believe we are just 2.5 weeks away from the big day! We’ve been in planning mode for so long. And rumor has it, the youngest should be engaged either by the wedding or perhaps during that weekend. Her bf asked for our blessing. So, looks like we will be planning another wedding soon. 😎😘

Seaweed has been raked, sun is back out, but it’s still pretty damn windy out there. Pier repairs still need to be done. But our sand guy will remove the sand from the the pool deck and flatten out any unlevel spots on the beach that could be a hazard.

Still, we were so fortunate to not have the flooding that our friends who live north of us.

The waves are still crashing pretty intensely at times. My neighbor is hoping that will bring more shells. (He’s so cute. He’s nearly 80 and LOVES to go for walks looking for shells).

I felt so sorry for the pole vaulter whose giant package spoiled his Olympic bid. But he probably should have tucked his junk. 🙈🤷‍♀️

Lots of wind and rains still. The tail of the storm is still swirling around in our area. We had some damage to our pier, but not unfixable. We have sand in the pool, the hot tub, and the pool deck, but that can be cleaned up. What is hurting my heart is I’m pretty sure the turtle nests on either side of our pier were destroyed. I suppose there is a chance the eggs are okay if Mama Turtles buried them deep enough. But we won’t know for a while. Not looking good though.

We got lucky on the beach. More flooding happened inland. Because I’m on a very narrow part of the island, the water had somewhere to go here.

Just some tea for now. I’m sure I will need a drink later. I have to take my brother to the eye doc. Apparently they are not closed and the roads between here and there have cleared. Wish me luck. 🍀

I'm sorry I didn't post an update earlier. I've been writing up a storm (pun intended). About an hour ago, we were on the edge of the eye, and about two hours ago, we had a take-cover tornado warning. There was no touchdown here. Still a tornado watch till 6 am. But we're all safe and sound. We did lose a surfer dude garden gnome. May he rest in pieces. I should have brought in the gnomes, but by the time I thought about it, it was raining cats and dogs.

Still blowing like crazy out there, wind, rain, and sand. Of course, there are a few idiots out there. A little while ago, I saw a set of parents with their toddler-age children swimming to the south of us. I get that y'all are on vacation, people. But is it really worth risking the possibility of a storm surge or rip tide? People drown all the time down here by making stupid, careless decisions.

I'll have a glass of Moscato while I read some of the many comp stories I still haven't gotten to yet. Cheers! 🍷

I submitted my SS entry. Had a window where I could focus. Last week was tough. Dad’s declined and been diagnosed with Alzheimers and vascular dementia. Too sad for words. I still haven’t recovered from trauma of Mom’s Alzheimers.

I’ll be spotty on here until I can accept everything and improve my mental/emotional state. Meanwhile, I’m trying to install two software upgrades at once at work.
