Alot depends on what his situation at home really is. Does he have a job? Does he pay for most of his "stuff" or do you? If you pay for most of his stuff, you have the power in the situation. No gas money, no car access, no cell phone, etc., can be a real wake up call for someone that age.

The city of Chicago just increased the tax on a pack of cigarettes by $1.00 starting March 1st. The price of a pack is now over $7.00 in most places. Two pack a day habit would be $420 a month. That monthly amount would certainly buy you one nice automobile. That would motivate me to quit.

I remember going to my Grandmothers house for overnight visits when my parents went out of town. She didn't like many sports at all, except for hockey. She would make us some really good snacks for between periods and we would watch the Blackhawks play on WGN. This is during the era of Bobby Hull and Stan Makita. I especially liked Makita. He looked like the kind of guy that would have worked at a steel mill if it weren't for hockey.
