Getting on a bit now, but still have a lust for life, so to speak. I've been interested in the idea of writing for years. Not necessarily erotic literature, but about all sorts of things. Through Lush I've been able to put pen to paper and get some of my story and poem ideas out for others to read, and I'm always grateful for any comments and feedback I get for my postings, as this helps me to improve.
Interests I have several different, and widely spaced interests. Apart from reading the tales on here, I'm a huge fan of Stephen King, mainly for his writing style as much as for his stories. I also have an interest in writing songs, and singing them, and I published a CD of 13 of my own songs, that I wrote, sang, played, arranged, recorded, mixed, and mastered at home.
Apart from that, I also fly a microlight aircraft, in the US and elsewhere they are known as ultralights, and I have done a couple of videos about microlighting. I've also bought a 23ft sailing yacht, so another string will be added to my bow.
Favorite Books All sorts. Lord of the Rings, of course, and the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. Not forgetting Stephen King's epic the Dark Tower series of books, and many others by him. I also like things like Thomas Pynchon's, The Crying of Lot 49, and then there's odd balls like Catch 22, The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, and the Wilt series of books.
And finally there's my all time favourite set of books, the Gormenghast trilogy. Brilliantly written, with humour and a very accomplished eye for detail by Mervyn Peake.
Favorite Authors Tolkien and Lewis, as mentioned above, Stephen King, Thomas Pynchon, Tom Sharpe, Ken Kesey for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest (which was a good film, but an excellent book), and my hero of the language, Mervyn Peake. I just wish he'd written more than he did, but he was an illustrator by trade, and I suppose he found it easier to actually draw his characters than describe them in words.
Favorite Movies I'm a huge sci fi fan, and I live in Elstree, where 2001 a Space Odyssey was filmed. Kubrick used to live near here, that's why he filmed it at Elstree studios, the lazy bugger didn't like to commute. Excellent film though, that brought out some of the things we tend to forget about space travel, the security aspect, which of course would be much more relevant now than it was in the 70's when the film was made.
Favorite TV Shows Big Bang Theory has finally ended, and there's nothing to take its place, Boo Hoo, what are we going to do? Watch it on repeats, and watch Young Sheldon I suppose.
Other than that, Jools Holland's 'Later' on Fridays. It's a music show that showcases new artists, and brings to our screens legends from the music world who we otherwise wouldn't get to see on TV. Currently he's on his 54th series! During the months between each series the Friday night music schedule is weaker by an order of magnitude.
Favorite Music All types. I tend to go for individual songs rather than complete genres. So for instance, I'm not a great fan of country music, but there are certain country songs that I really like. Also I'm not that much of a metal fan, but there are particular songs that stick in the brain like glue.
One person I must mention though is Ed Sheeran. He's a phenomenon! Talent and skill drips from his fingers, and his songs have captured the hearts and minds of many many people, including me.
"Yes?" she said, "And what do you want?" "You!" he said. "Oh, yeah? What for? Do I know you?" "You will!" he said "Why would I want to know you?" she said "Because I fuckin' said so!" "That's not an answer. Just tell me who you are, where you're from, and why you knocked on my door first," she said, with a rising edge to her voice. At that, he grabbed her arm tightly near the elbow, digging his strong thumb and index fing...
