Be careful. Do your research, talk to people of the opposite sex, read lots of fiction by people of the opposite sex, particularly read their same-sex fiction. Get comfortable inside their heads.

When Kathleen Stock first came to popular attention after very publicly resigning from her academic job, my first thought was that if I were a trans PhD student and was assigned her as my supervisor I would not be very happy opr comfortable about it.
