This a question designed to be divisive. The E N T I R E country has something to offer. I've been to 49 of the 50 states (Alaska still beckons) and have found each and every state to have something to offer and something to despise. The four coasts (Atlantic, Pacific, Great Lakes, Gulf) are the same; different yet with something to offer. While my dad was in the Air Force, we lived on both coasts and both are great places with opportunities to sate every appetite. Maybe if everyone spent more time traveling and meeting people outside of their own cliche, the entire country might be better off.

Hey, I grew up in the Midwest, even went to college there, and after my 12 years in NYC, I moved to the Southwest. I love every place I've lived. Iowa, Minnesota, New York, Colorado, yadayadayada. I'm not even a city boy, probably more of a small town Midwestern boy at heart, but I went through so many profound changes and discoveries in my years in NYC it will always have a strong pull on me, like the moon influencing the tides.

I went to law school in NYC. Great place to visit and learn but I like the open spaces more. I'm most at ease and happy in nature. I guess I have a more serious outlook on life too. My law school experiences, especially my internship, had a pivotal effect on my life as well.

That's sweet. We should plan to get away from it all! A road trip with an open-ended return date?

I've traveled the world but settled in the west when I finally moved to the states.

Ah well I have the answer you two, come down under and a road trip around the world's longest highway (Highway 1 appropriately) awaits. Just a gentle 14,500 km circumnavigating the continent. And that by the way should prove East is best, down under at least.

I confess that Santa Fe is the most East I have been in North America, but East I think is best in those places I have travelled more comprehensively in.

East Coast by a long shot. I am a proud citizen of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. While I traveled to Florida, nothing does it for me more than the Northern tier!

I’ve visited both coasts and a couple of places in between but I can’t make a decision about which I prefer! There’s good and bad about every place I’ve been. Guess my home state would be my favorite and that’s Virginia.

As the person who made this thread.....

West Coast!!!

Come on... that polluted east coast vs the pristine Oregon Coast? Or the beauty of Big Sur?

You can take Florida.... I''ll take northern California and Washington.

You can have some Jersey Shore knockoff claim your status, While I will cruise the people that claim to love the west coast...

Florida can suck my dick.

Cali, Or coast and Washington.... You can fuck yourself with that east coast nonsense.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say.... west cost rocks east coast when it comes to this kind of tete et tete....

There have to be real mountains for me! Cascades and Rockies! So Washington, Oregon, BC. Great Cities in the east are superb though - especially NYC, Boston and Montreal.

West Coast, from the Aleutians to Northwest Oregon. I went to California once, when I was nine, and all I remember is that it was hot, the water tasted bad, and the mirror in our hotel was broken. It was also, to me, stupidly hot. The East Coast is fine, I just don't think I could live there.

I do like the American Deep South, not in the cultural sense but in the weather sense and historic sense. My grandmother married an American during the war and from about age 4 to age 16, every year, I'd fly down to St. Louis. She'd drive me down to Cape Girardeau, and two or three days later, after packing up the car and her CB radio, she'd say, "We're going to (wherever) to see the Americans." Despite living in the United States for most of her life (she served in as a flight nurse in WWII, in the RCAF), she still didn't see the irony in her "going to see the Americans". Still. Four days in the Smithsonian, visiting Hannibal, MO, and staying for two weeks in New Orleans. Amazing stuff.

East coast for sure. When I moved to California 4 years ago, I’ve disliked it since I got here. But I will say, I can breath better with the ocean air. Only thing that keeps Milik and I from moving back to the east coast.

shout out and big hiya from an ex-East Oaktown girl.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

West coast. Better to watch a sunset over the ocean, than wake up early for a sunrise.

West Coast is the best coast when not on fire.

It is currently on fire.

West Coast is the sad coast.

"The Punished Nonpartisan" <- Extreme BDSM and humiliation story. Heavy on plot. Served on a plate of political drama with a side of domestic terror. Currently Free download.

Jocelyn the Wicked <- futanari, fantasy fan fic, and some tentacles that escaped the laboratory

All I truly know is the South

When I think of West Coast I picture clean beaches and random fires and Hollywood

When I think of East Coast I picture large crowded cities and History and Yankees

Not sure which is better though

I actually can't stand people who live in the coastal states in most cases, which is why I refuse to ever live in one other than my time in BMT in TX. Though I also have to admit I can only barely tolerate being so close to Chicago and would prefer to move to a rural area.
