I already admitted that earlier in the thread.

I wouldn't have guessed it tho because of the 0800 number. All I could think was 118118 or something similar.

Now have you eaten larks tongue before?

Huh?

118 118 IS the number. I think you should stop posting in this thread, you've been wrong about something in every one of them

BTW, King Harold had a very bad day that day (October 14th). Am I wrong, or did William the Conqueror build the Tower of London?

Thank you for this. I never know. Are you British or English, or do you care? Can I call you European or is that just for the continent? Is my ignorance offensive or is it just obvious I'm American?

I am English, and I prefer to be called English smile Not really, it doesn't offend me. British is just a generic term, same as European. WE all have separate Nationalities and I would like it to stay that way :)

England, Scotland Wales and Ireland (Geographically all, but politically only Northern Ireland) are the British Isles, and all who live here are British, but we are also natives of our separate countries, so we can be English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish, as we please.

You have English, Welsh, Scottish and Irish people.. We are all also British, providing the Irish folk are from Northern Ireland.

England, Wales and Scotland are the same land mass. This island is called Great Britain. Add in Northern Ireland and together they make up the United Kingdom.

The southern bit of Ireland, technically the Republic of Ireland, is a country in its own right. So the one island is two separate countries.

I like to be called English, but British is also absolutely fine. European is not at all acceptable to me. We are part of the EU, for now anyway, but the countries are all still independent so we each have our own names... It would be like calling all Americans and Canadians 'north Americans', it's just weird.

Hope that helps. And now I shall stop rambling!

I immediately sung the advert to myself. Terribly British of me. But I have no idea what larks tongue is so maybe not so much after all...

Sounds perfectly fine by me. Switzerland, Norway and Ukraine are not members of the EU, but the Swiss, Norwegians and Ukrainians are definitely Europeans. And so are the British in my mind, brexit or not. For me "European" is not a reference to a political entity but to a geographical one.

Love my Limey lark eating friends.
Well...not so much the lark part...smile

Nearly every culture in Europe has eaten lark, and not just the tongues either.
But ya not ever see me eating it.

Not know what ya talking about? Love the Downtown Abbey hotels/restaurants. Good wines.
Beautiful architecture. Great trip to Druid Stonehenge.

Have a lot of hottie Paris friends too. Great wines/outdoor cafes.
Walking hand in hand up the promenade to the Tower.
Love the boat rides on the Seine at night.

I always thought Norwegians were Scandinavians.
Shows how much I know.
If anyone is interested, the proper form of greeting in Norwegian is "Jeg Elsker Deg".

See, the issue over here is that some (many in some parts of Canada) of us are descended from multiple British nationalities. I have every single one of them somewhere in my family tree. So if I had to describe my family origins, "British" would be the best option. Else I'm saying I'm of Anglo-Scottish-Welsh-Irish descent, which is a bit of a mouthful.

They eat snails that's what.

And what is wrong with that? So do the Chinese and a number of other nationalities. In fact, this Canuck rather likes the slimey little beasts. Red-cooked Shanghai-style is my favorite but escargots in garlic butter works, too.

And, no, I have not had lark's tongue. Duck's, yes, but not lark's.

They are Scandinavians, but Scandinavians and Europeans are not mutually exclusive sets. In fact Scandinavians are a subset of Europeans like Norwegians are a subset of Scandinavians.

The informal way of greeting is "Heisan" if I'm correct.
