All of a sudden one of my three favourite authors, Oceanrunner, has disappeared totally from the site along with all his or her stories. What happened? Are the stories archived anywhere? Why no notice?

Unfortunately OR deleted his account, which took all of his stories with him. You might be able to find them archived on Google.
Members are in charge of their own accounts and can delete any time they choose. They don't need to give notice.

I still have contact with Oceanrunner; he's doing ok!
He had an issue with the new " " genre and decided to leave. It was his choice and we need to respect that.

It seems like a great pity that his existing stories are lost to us all (I never downloaded any of them).
I have only retrieved two of them via the Internet Wayback Machine. The rest do not appear.
Will Oceanrunner be posting them somewhere else or is there any other way to access them? (as is apparent, I valued those stories highly).

Since we retain copyright of our stories, he certainly could put them up somewhere else. Since Gallo has contact with OR, perhaps he knows. The mods will take a very dim view if he tries to return and repost them here, I suspect, since all his stuff would have to be remodded. There's a reason the system encourages deactivation over deletion (the former leaves stories in place so they don't need to be re-modded if you return). As Gallo said, he made a stand on principle so if he sticks to that principle, he won't be back here and a lot of the other erotic writing sites will be off-limits to him as well since it's a fairly common category.

Some writers had never published any stories on Lush except for stories, which accounts for losing some of them when we stopped publishing them. Oceanrunner's decision to leave was based on what he believed was best for him. He thought that his real life might be effected by posting on a site that publishes . I hope he is able to find a site to publish his stories that doesn't cause him that problem.
Most of the big sites, the ones with larger readerships, do post stories though. If you are going to post stories on a sex site, a major erotica site anyway, you pretty much have expect stories now.

I think he was concerned with having his real life associated with an erotica site altogether. His profession would have been sensitive to it. I believe the Fantasies category just made the decision for him.
He could do the most porn-tastic writing style. It wasn't all written that way but always made me smile. If all of his Kristina series is on the other site, it's worth a read.
