Geez Blind and Rocco, you guys sure know how to take the fun out of harmless what-if wishful thinking. Forget the techno-paradox seriousness of the question and indulge in a little carefree frivolous fantasy.

and btw Wicked I think Joan of Arc would kick your ass....LOL!!!

I'm another one who'd go back to medieval times. I see that era with knights and ladies as being romantic, but I'm sure the reality would be some pretty tough living.

Fear not milady, Chivalry flies on nobel wings,
and I am romances servant.

Sir, you are a true gentleman.

And a cursed hopeless romantic. The Notebook still makes me cry lol

Keep up being a hopeless romantic man I am one myself .

I would want to go back to the medieval period so I could be a bounty hunter. Either that or FORWARD in time so I could be an interstellar bounty hunter like Boba Fett lol.
I would never build a time machine with the hopes of actually changing something because that would create a paradox in which that thing would find a way of happening anyway.
I could go into it but peoples heads would explode.

whahahahahaha like sci-fi much....no time travel must be done by observing only....I'd like a Tardis so I could fly to other planets and in time and space and shag Dr who(Christopher Eccleston)

I fixed that for you...

No it's Tenant all the way
Ok I'd also go to Woodstock and see if the hype about drugs ,sex and rock n roll was true ...

Under the right circumstances, that could be fun too

It was true, Lois. But you have to remember something. Back then, you could try sex or drugs once and not die from it.

(That said from someone who was just a kid then and never did a drug in his life.)
I would go back to Noember 22 1963 in Dallas Texas to prevent the assanation of John Kennedy. He did a lot for america, supporting the black population, wanting to end the war in vietnam etc. The world is a better place today because of him.
I think you should check your history stu, it was Kennedy who put the "advisors" in to 'nam and things would have happend just the same if he were alive or dead.

better times lol...
I'm seriously fantasizing about traveling to the future. They are talking about a space endeavor to mars with people in the next 10 years. And we could colonize the moon in 40 I'd say. Being a HUGE Star Wars fan I just can't accept the fact that I'll be dead just as we reach a new planet. I want to travel in space NOW!!!
Even when you're blindfolded, Hindsite is 20/20

At Woodstock, LSD was a new drug. Nobody knew anything about it, except for the hallucinations, so a lot of people tried it. They'd drop it and get naked in the mud, while listening to the groups.
That was a year after the Summer of Love.

That's your Woodstock lesson for today.
I would want to go back to the 1920' and 1930's, it was a simpler time and I want to meet Marilyn Monroe she is a classic beauty.
Veni, vidi, vici" Julius Caesar 47 BC
I've always been fascinated by the early 1900s, when my grandmother was a young woman. I grew up hearing her stories and would love to see that time for myself.
Back to the beginning of humanity.
PS. Can i borrow the machine when you're done with it? Please? Cheers
Wow, this thread is like a time machine.

Nevertheless, I am here, so.....

"Never look back" - I want to check out the future and maybe meet one of my Star Trek idols

I would make a series of travels...

I would bring a digital camera and video record all of the "marks" in history that we only know about from books. Just to make sure that the stories are correct and that we are not being fooled by anyone.

I would not change anything that happened I would just observe and record - then I´d present it all today...

I wonder what people´s reaction would be to know that what we read in "whatever book" is not exactly the truth...
I would go back to several decades: The Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 30s, civil rights movement of the 1960s, and my teenage years of the 1990s.
To see my father again - what a wonderful man - miss him dearly

Love to revisit school - knowing what I know now - not that I would change anything but maybe a wiser head would of kept me of some of those scraps.

I kind of like where (and when) I am just now. The past is old news; it's all about the here and now.
I'd be tempted to go hang out in front of the Dakota and beat the shit of of Chapman before he had a chance to pull the trigger on the evening of December 8th, 1980.

The Notebook is one of my favorites.....lol

I would like to go to the 1920's ....the Roaring 20s and jazz really appeals to me.....would love to dress up like a flapper and be part of the prohibition or at least part of them smuggling alcohol around and watching the Chicago mob in action.....although I don't think I would of liked Black Thursday as much........lol

I just love the dresses, hairdos, heels, hats and boas........love it!!!

I agree with Zafia... the Roaring 20s would be fun... men could dress in the 20s!

Hey, someone should write a story series set in the 20s!!!!

As long as you're one of the ladies of the estate. If you're of one of the poor folks, it might truly suck. Having lived off the grid for a while, I can tell you that life is different without electricity and refrigeration! ... And no indoor plumbing.

i would LOVE to go back to the elizabethan era...its sounds so romantic and beautiful...but i'd want the GOOD romantic side of it and NOT the side where the era was founded on the exploitation of women...

would I marry someone guy thats 40 yrs older than me because it'll advance MY family???

the answer is hell NO.
i would not make myself unhappy for the rest of MY life just so my FAMILY can advance with titles...i dont get shit

i would be the type of wife to kill their husbands...because thats the only way women got to own ANYTHING...

so....maybe i would go back to the guy who thought up this brilliant thing called SLAVERY and beat the living SHIT outta him...for a few decades....
asshole....

Better to be an old man's darling than a young man's warling ...

For me. Just like Chef first said. Just back a little to spend some time again with my parents. Other than that
their is nothing i would what to go back too.
I agree with a lot of the opinions before me re being with your parents or the 20s decade where there seemed to be no limit of fun times.

But I would also like to return to New Orleans, pre Katrina, and once more enjoy that magical city. Take another drive along the Gulf coast through undamaged Biloxi, Mobile, and the many small communities that I visited and enjoyed. Relive some of those great memories just one more time.
Medieval ages, preferably England or France.
I wouldn't mind meeting Eleanor of Aquitaine, or being served by a knight in shining armour ;)
I think I would go back to the 3rd-century BC and tour the great city-states in their heyday with Alexander the Great.
When I got ready to leave, I would sell my sword to Alexander (steel blades of the period were usually made from meterorites and thus almost impossible to find ... and quite literally worth their weight in gold) then stop off in 1973 to buy Exxon-Mobile stock at $4/share and Dollar General stock at 3-cents/share
