Sleep where are you
I need you now
You elusive jerk

Every time
I close my eyes
My brain starts work

Neurons buzzing
In my head
Processing thought

Unrelenting
No intermission
Never without

I have to find you
To silence my braincells
Before I'm all messed

Sleep where are you
I need you now
Grant me some rest
A little kindness can be so valuable, yet costs almost nothing

In many countries being gay is a crime, and even in modern societies, politicians try to legalise discrimination. Your voice can make a difference. Have a look at All Out to find out how.

Hey... pssst.... that's an l (as in luscious) at the end of my name, not an i
I had to take steps to get off my sleeping aid and fall asleep easily. The things that worked the best included: 1. Only sleeping in bed (no tv or reading ever) 2. Consistent sleep schedule 3. No light what so ever in my bed room. 4. One glass of water before bed.
Fun thread, Gillian.

I don't suffer so much from insomnia as I do from headaches - those are the bastards that keep me from sleeping! I spend more nights than I care to sitting in my recliner downstairs with an icepack for company while my Sugarbaby sleeps upstairs!

Thank you, although I do wish I didn't have any familiarity with the subject matter, lol. I've always had it, even as a child so I don't think things are going to change anytime soon. I thought I might as well have fun with it or at least offer a place where people can share information, tips and just funny stuff.

Long story short...

NyQuil
Vivid memories of staring at the roof of my tent all night at Boy Scout camp. Never been able to sleep well, and advancing age is not helping. Ambien almost killed me. Literally. So now alcohol is my late night friend.

Gonna try some melatonin tonight....apparently that helps sleep....maybe I'll have some good dreams....
Shouting out a big FU to 4am.

How did you go with the melatonin? It had worked wonders on my children before but they only take a very tiny dose, I've never thought to try it for me.
the melatonin...well I'm a notoriously light sleeper and I did wake up a couple of times during the night but compared to most nights I'd say my sleep was average to average+. I'm going to try again tonight...current dosage is only 3mg. They did have 5mg and 10mg at the store. Still an experiment...

I've been an insomniac since I was kid, I never worry its just my brain won't stop exploring the universe (or the potential universe, or the potential if there was no universe, the alternate universes or the universal potential of all)
potential remedies: drink warm milk before bed, try valerian root tea, make sure you exercise regularly and stick to a regular sleep/wake pattern

or just stay up and write naughty stories...

You forgot parallel universes.

Try a warm bath with a couple of drops of pure cold-pressed lavender essential oil, or try lavender scented body wash in a shower, a couple of drops of the oil on your pillow, or your sleepwear. The more concentrated the oil is, the more effective it is. A bottle from the dollar store won't cut it.

There is a herb called Valerian Root. You can get it in a tablet form from pharmacies and health food shops. It's a natural sedative.

The lavender works wonders and If the valerian doesnt send you to sleep it will at least relax you.
Seriously, pray. When I try to pray the devil hits me with his sledgehammer, doing a damned good impersonation of Thor, knocks me stone cold OUT!
My accidental afternoon snoozes are killing me. Stuck in this perpetual cycle where I am so tired I take an unintended nap in the late afternoon and then can't sleep at night. 2.20am we meet again.
