Thank you, lass. But somehow, that feels like a challenge of sorts...

Processing times are all a matter of perspective. To publish almost anything through traditional venues takes months and sometimes even years, often submitting to dozens of agents and publishers, so patience and a thick skin are necessary virtues for any writer. I've found that Lush wait times are far, far shorter than other sites, and the quality of stories is far superior to most. I for one would prefer a slightly longer wait and a few rejections to ensure the time I spend reading is well spent...there's not much more frustrating than pulling up a story and getting bogged down in grammar errors or ridiculously poor content. I like knowing that what I'm reading has passed a preliminary quality check. (And I try to write with that in mind as well.)

Well said, thank you.

We've received a few complaints recently that stories have taken a while to be processed.

I'd like to gently remind the more impatient of you, a few points.

The verifiers are all volunteers. It is quite often a thankless task, and they do an amazing job.

In the first 2 weeks of March alone, we have processed over 400 stories. Of those, 31% were rejected.

That means, our verifiers have to double-handle (and often triple-handle) almost a third of the stories submitted, which really doesn't help with clearing the queue on a daily basis.

What is perhaps most annoying about this, is those stories should never have been submitted in the first place.

The most common rejection reasons are:

a) Too many spelling and grammatical mistakes.

b) Formatting issues.

c) Submitting stories which break our content guidelines.

If you would like to see your story on site quickly, make sure you do the following prior to submitting:

a) Run your story through a spellcheck. Read your story at least 3 times to check for grammar issues. Spellcheck will not help you with the incorrect use of too / to / two, so make sure you check thoroughly.

b) Check how your story looks in the "Preview Story" pane, make any necessary changes.

c) Read our site guidelines relating to story submissions. If your story doesn't meet them, don't submit it.

Thank you.

Nicola

While others have made some very good points I'd like to assure all of our authors that each of us who verify stories are writers first and foremost.

We have all gone through the same efforts in creating entertaining stories as all of the writers on Lush and at one time or another we to have had to wait while our stories sat in que only to be kicked back for correction. As such we have the greatest respect for those who practice the craft and thus have volunteered our own time because we believe that this site best represents the work of our fellow writers.

We do not view ourselves as judges but rather as advisors. We are here to assist you all and to ensure that those who read our collective works are enjoying the best and highest quality erotica and poetry available anywhere.
Well said, Milik...

I'd like to add that as a mod, I see it as my role not to knock stories back, but rather to help writers get the best from their writing...

I hope I can speak for the rest of the mods when I say that we're happy to hear from writers?

I mean, if I reject a story, then I'm always happy for the writer to get in touch so that we can discuss any issues and get their story onto the site...
You guys do a great job and you do help authors with suggestions to publish our stories if they were rejected once and I really appreciate that.

Look let's face it Lush does a GREAT job processing through the stories. Especially now considering the number of members and the volume of stories submitted has gone WAY WAY UP over the past year. Yes, Lush does have a few rules? However Lush seems to have fewer rules than the Olympics. At least I can wear my Nike runners and drink Pepsi while I write my stories on my Mac Air......all of which would be BANNED in the London Olympics!! Perhaps Lush needs to adopt "official sponsors" and ban any reference to any competing products in people's stories? That might make the moderator's jobs more interesting? Hey, just a thought.
I have to say, I don't post a lot of stories. But when I do, it never takes very long for them to be verified.
Today, for example, had to be one of the fastest I've ever had a story posted.
10mins. Tops. Seriously. From the time I pushed the "Submit" button to walking in my kitchen and making myself a cup of coffee and back.
I sat down at the computer and saw my story on the front page.

Common sense tells me to spell check my work. And with a few tips and pointers, found in the forums, I can now handle the basics in correcting my own mistakes. I try not to toss the story verifiers shoddy shit. I take the time to go over my work.
Hopefully, there's not too many mistakes that need fixing, but when I first submitted stories. UGH! I'd like to apologize for that.

I really don't mind waiting a day or two if needed. I tried a different site once *GASP* (Yes, I know ) and it took them 2 weeks to verify and post the single story I submitted.
Safe to say... I don't frequent that site. Thanks, but no thanks. It's just not Lush.

It took me a year to get my last story verified...oh wait maybe not...

Actually, I've never had an issue with processing times here on Lush...I remember a couple of times where it's been as quick as fifteen minutes...but, what do I know? I've only sent in about 105 stories...

Been waiting for my story for weeks now.
Keep asking for a response, just a little feedback.
Always met with total indifference.
Posting?
Submission?
What do you mean small print?
I thought I just had to think about it.

I'd better start writing one then!

Oh Frank, you do make me giggle!! biggrin
How does one volunteer to be a verifier?

░P░U░S░S░Y░ ░I░N░ ░B░I░O░

If you want to become a story verifier you can use the contact us form and tell the site that you're interested.
Or maybe contact one of the verifiers directly.

Cheers
I have posted a few stories on a couple of other sites and they took form 3 days to over two weeks to post the stories. Lush is by far the best in terms of time and helpfulness if something has been rejected. The story verifiers are absolutely great and they do a wonderful job.

see that, Nicola? i think you need to raise our drinking allowance or at least re-stock the bar more then once a day!

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.
