It is my understanding that images are one of the items being moved as part of the new server implementation and migration so loading them again wasnt necessary. When the migration is completed I am sure either Gav or Nicola will announce that and all should be back to normal.

Apparently there is 300gb of data and over 1/4 million images to migrate over. Not surprising it's taking so long.
At least at the end of it all, we'll have a dedicated image server, and site speed should be improved.
