Yep it's live. At the moment it's just PayPal. Some legal wranglings have prevented alternative payment options at present. Other avenues are being considered who are more amenable to sites of an adult nature.

Just read through the thread and I think I've managed to understand how this works (which probably means I've got it completely arse about tit).

Anyhows, I just wanted to say that I feel this is a really nice addition to the site and clever low/zero cost way for readers to be able to recognise authors or stories they cherish.

Not expecting to make any money and should I be gifted any coins I'll most probably regift them to others whose writings I enjoy. So excellent all round.

One small question, it might have been covered and I missed it, but will the gifting/tipping be anonymous or identifiable by the recipient?

It's 375 coins not $375 so at $37.50 you can request a payout or you can use the coins to purchase or gift memberships

I've been having a bit of a think about all of this overnight.

If I've understood it correctly there are two ways coins are created:

a. they are distributed to new members when they purchase their membership.

b. coins can be purchased.

I'm not sure how many users will purchase coins. Not many I suspect. All of which creates a problem that you have a 'marketplace' with little to no liquidity.

So, it's my belief that if you want to make this work in a meaningful way then you need to add liquidity to the marketplace... some fiscal easing if you like.

To go back to a point kiteares raised earlier, the focus on new members as the only coin holders. What about all those with existing memberships? Or those who have contributed to the site for years/decades?

Shouldn't existing Gold and Platinum members receive an allocation to spend to thank them for purchasing their membership? Doesn't Sprite or Darkside or Kristin or even yourself deserve some allocation for the contribution they've made over numerous years. Not much of course. Not enough to 'cash out' and be deemed a financial payment but enough for them to use within the marketplace.

Anyway, just some thoughts and I've probably misunderstood something somewhere, in which case please feel free to ignore me.

I get where you're coming from, but the idea is to try and monetise a small portion of the traffic which visits the site on a daily basis, rather than having the site reward authors, which wouldn't be financially viable. Asking the site to put coins in kind of defeats the purpose.

This is about hopefully rewarding authors, who are the ones whose content drives the site. Me and my one story every two years probably isn't doing much to drive traffic, lol.

Of course there won't be much liquidity at the start of the process, but with every new person joining, more coins come into the system. We don't know yet how things will pan out, but even just having a mechanism to potentially reward authors is a massive step forward.

Just when I thought getting a COMMENT on my stories was good, y'all went and added tips. This is a neat idea, I hope it doesn't get tossed in a few months/years time because people took advantage/abused it. I have been on this site a long time ...ish. But no one really noticed me until I got brave enough to enter the comps. It's easy to forget how big this site is. But still, hope the tips/coins thing is a step in a hopeful and helpful direction. Makes me wonder - the comp entries, are they gonna get replaced by 'coins' ?? I have never won one, so I have no idea how the top three prizes work. I would hope the top three slot prizes stay the same but maybe some coin tips for the runner ups could be good? I don't know.

Hello, I'm Daphne, a platinum member and contributing writer.

I have some thoughts on your new coin tipping system. In general, I like the idea of the coins; it's another form of validation. I shamefully confess that I obsess over likes and comments that mean nothing.

You should consider giving a few coins to new stories, and maybe some extra coins for popular stories and contest winners.

The writing drives your traffic, leading to revenue. The writers receive nothing for contribution, and a small something would lead to more stories, thus more traffic, leading to increased revenue. A complete cycle.

I assume the coins will have similar value as Cam-girl tokens, (I have a friend who is a Cam-girl) and don't amount to much individually, but add up over time.

If you don't write, you don't understand the small thrill that likes and intelligent comments provide. At least to me, and the coins will add an extra layer.

I am financially comfortable, and will redistribute any coins, if and when any are given to me, but others are NOT so lucky. Ten bucks means a lot to some, if not most people. I will probably purchase coins myself, to distribute for excellent work.

On a side-note, a boolean search would be REALLY nice, and is simple to implement. That's a search that includes 'if' 'and' and 'not', using '+' ',' and '-' signs. If you code in C or C++ I would be happy to provide the operative syntax. If you code, you know that already, so nevermind. …Daphne grins.
