the whole covid thing... it's gone on a long time, longer for some than others, still continuing for some, while others are seeing an easing of restrictions. it's stressful, it's hard. some of us are doing ok. we're staying healthy, we're getting by financially, we are managing and finding ways to cope. on of the cool things i have been seeing is people coming together. being kind, treating others with kindness...

yesterday, we went shopping, and took out a little extra cash ($40) just to have. somewhere between the cash registrar and our car it was dropped, not really sure where or how, but a really lovely gentleman tracked us down as we were putting groceries in the back seat and handed it over. didn't ask for anything, just being a good human being. my comment, when we were driving away was, i love people. and it's true, i do - generally people are awesome, but not always...

a lot of ugly stories are out there, too, and it saddens me, but it also makes me resolve to be one of the beautiful stories, not one of the ugly ones. so yeah, trying hard not to be an asshole, and that is pretty much today's reminder -

Don't be an asshole. we have people from all walks of life here, under all sorts of pressure. nurses, parents, sons and daughters, essential workers, people on furlough or laid off or let go... so yeah, treat each other with kindness and try not to be an asshole, even if you think you are justified. i'm going to do my best (probably should stay out of the think tank, tho, cause sometimes i do admit to crossing that line).

love you all.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Love hearing stories of nice people instead of all the bad ones out there

Btw I’m not an asshole smile
It was quite nice of that man to return your money. especially now, when to a lot of people, $40 could have meant enough to buy food to get through the week, or paying for a prescription. or gas to get back and forth to a part time job.
I love when Sprite goes off on the Think Tank Thread. Yo, people gotta accept what they put out. Remember that.

And I'm glad that man gave you your money back.

Why not think of someone you once hurt, and how you could make it up to them? That's a simple way to do a good thing.

03 January 2025 - Why not start the year with a bit of smut by your favourite Lush author? Or if not, try my latest instead. The Jogger And The Flasher | Lush Stories Please read, comment and maybe give it a ❤️ - or even a⭐ if you really enjoy it! Thank you! Annie xxx

I love that.

Also reaching out to the people who have made a positive impact in your life somehow and thanking them and letting them know.

Thanks Rach for sharing, Its always good to hear stories of kindness
Especially when you mostly just hear about the unkind it kind of helps me keep my faith in humanity.
Love your post, Sprite! I needed a feel-good story. And kindness is more contagious than the coronavirus!

Perfectly stated. If all of the world was kind we wouldn't have enemies. Thank you for sharing.
We've been trying to be very careful, going out the bare minimum and limiting exposure. We have had to get groceries, of course, but have ordered online and picked up, and have occasionally picked up a pizza or 2 (no delivery out in the sticks) and other things like subs or Mexican food.

These folks are all providing extra service - bringing out the cart and loading your groceries in the car, delivering the meals to you outside the front door of restaurants that lack drive-thrus, etc, yet they all seem very surprised when we give them a few dollars for a tip as you would if being served at a table. Are most people not tipping these folks for the service provided? Really? Shoot, we've even tipped the folks at drive-thrus just for being open and coming to work!

Seriously, without what they are doing, along with the more recognized heroes like doctors and nurses and first responders, a lot more of us would have to put ourselves at risk. The very least we can do is recognize that with a few $$ and a thank you.

you want $40, you gotta earn it the old fashioned way. ;)

I had a lady thank me the other day for being a truck driver. I just looked at her and didn't know what to say except your welcome.

I love hearing about good people still being in the world. There are too many bad ones in the news every day. I quit watching the news because it was too depressing.

Now as for this $40 and Sprite thing. Hmmm so many thoughts.... LOL. J/k . I am very happy that you found that one good guy among all the others.

Nice story, Rachel! Nice of you to give it some recognition, too. A real day-brightener.

Thanks, Rachel.
I just heard that a long-standing client of mine - I've known him for c. 13 years, see him every week - died of Covid, leaving behind wife and teenage autistic son. Not ill, not old - in his 50s maybe.
Shit.
It's no joke, this virus. Lockdown is a small price to pay.
Stay very safe, guys.
And keep looking for silver linings.
