This was absolutely not a surprise. I called win place and draw weeks ago. Three very talented authors and poets. Reggie, I knew yours was gold as soon as I read it. Liz you certainly gave her competition and Rachel you are always a lock for top three.

Congrats to all the honorable mentions. Well done to all.

I am honoured to have been in the top ten, and even more so by the award of an Editor's Pick by Nicola. Most of all I am glad that I accepted Ping's challenge to write a sonnet about passion, not just because of the result, but because writing my poem unlocked my creative imagination in a new way.

I had my fingers crossed, hoping to make the top 10. I'm surprised and honored to have won. Congratulations to Liz and Sprite. I'm with you Liz, what a delicious sandwich we make. To be mentioned alongside you...I can't find the words to explain how good that makes me feel. You are two of my absolute favorites. Congrats to all the honorable mentions. But, I want to specifically congratulate and hug all of the first time poets, all of the ones that really stretched themselves to give poetry a try. And to all of you readers that aren't "really into poetry" but gave us all a read and liked what you found, THANK YOU?

Poetry itself, with all its fickle ways, is the true winner. Alan would have loved that! What a way to honor him. Alan and I used to communicate in some way practically every day and I miss him so much.

Congratulations to the winners and the honorable mentions, and to all who entered - so great to see so many of my friends do well! There were so many amazing, stunning, beautiful poems in this comp, largely as an outpouring of affection and respect for Alan. That was touching to witness. The talent on display was awesome, and the judging had to have been brutal. Maybe the best, most meaningful comp yet, and a tribute to the whole Lush community.

Congratulations to all who have been mentioned here today. I'm certainly not surprised by the top three. The winning entries were outstanding (special congrats Reggie, Liz and Rach)! But to be honest, I wasn't sure that anybody was a clear winner. I felt several other entries were absolutely amazing too. I read each one, and the more I read, the less confident I became about the quality of my own offering so I'm thrilled and surprised to have been given a mention.

Though I never met Alan, his influence is clearly felt through the rich abundance of poetic talent and through all those who keep his memory alive. I feel honored to be part of a site such as this, where yes there is erotic, filthy, fun, but there are also contributions and interactions that tug at the heart strings.

Plus thanks to all those who welcomed those of us non-poets (some of whom turned out to be really good poets when they tried, and some...well, somewhat less good...) who joined in!

I think those who won the Passion Competition wrote wonderful poems and deserved the honors they received.
I read a few poems that were awe inspiring, and a couple more that left me just speechless.
I'm so glad I could have my small part in this event.
It's something I won't ever forget...smile

I've never thought of myself as writing anything, and I only wanted to share with you how I feel about my friends here.
How much I love everything about Lush, and all of the little things we not think about, but we feel, see, do, and say as we make Lush our cyber home.
It's my home too, and I love you all. Thank you so much.

If I ever decide to write anything again?...I won't be so afraid of how you may feel about me.

It was an amazing thing to see so many people come together and join in such a great cause. It was so much fun to read the varied entries and see people who had never written poetry step up and some ending up in the top was so pleasing. A fantastic job by everyone who entered and kudos to the judges. That could not have been an easy job, to say the least.

It's nice that the main Competition page now lists the runners-up as well as the winners. But why does it only show seven of them, rather than all of the twelve listed in the original post? Are the other five not actually runners-up at all?

And yes, I do declare a personal interest, since is mine is one of those that seems to have dropped off the bottom!

I don't mind being a runner-up. But a runner-up to the runners-up? Not so good ?

I'm with you here as I'm part of the Lost 5. I was so thrilled to make the Top 15, and now I feel like I wasn't even that good.

Gav coded a "Top 10" so I couldn't add any more! To have a Top 15, is very unusual. You are listed at the top of this thread as a runner-up!

If he codes an extra 5 spaces, for each new competition with only a Top 10, there will be empty spaces for those extra 5. Unless he does some complicated jiggery pokery. I can ask if it's possible if you wish?
