With the word limit opened up a little, writers were able to stretch their literary legs rather more, and this competition really brought out some terrific stories.

Top of the pile, were these excellent winners:

1st Place ($150) - Pick Me Up Then Let Me Down, by puddleduck
2nd Place ($100) - Worth The Risk, by WannabeWordsmith
3rd Place ($50) - Alien to Pleasure, by littleduchess

Following hot on their heels, were these quality entries:

Haunted by Proxy, by VirgoGo
Security, by browncoffee
Queen Of The Road, by Stormdog
The Dark Necessities of a Lonesome Chameleon, by MadMartigan
Out Of Habit, by Ping
Free, by Simmerdownchick
Cocktail Umbrellas and Other Things, by Gillianleeeza

To everyone else who entered, thank you for taking part!

A new competition will be set up in the coming week or so.

Cheers,

Nicola

There were some Monsters in here. Congratz to all the winners, and yeah, Puddleduck just nailed it this time around.

A fantastic top ten. Huge congrats to puddleduck, whose writing generally makes my jaw hit the floor. Kudos to the rest. Some really good entries in there

Congratulations to Puddleduck, WannabeWordsmith, and LittleDuchess on First, Second, and Third Place. That's quite an achievement. Outstanding work on those fabulous stories.

And congrats to those who rounded out the Top 10 with Honorable Mentions. Outstanding stories. And this comp even went much deeper than that with outstanding stories. I know deciding that had to be seriously difficult.

This was a great story competition. Thanks to all who entered.

Congrats to Puddleduck (I'm such a fangirl), Wannabewordsmith (who ain't no "wannabe") and LittleDuchess (aka "the Alien Whisperer"). It was a hoot to play with you and a delight to be beat by you. Kudos, also, to browncoffee and StormDog, whose stories I adored...and to all the rest of the top ten finishers.

the comp was really close this time around. pretty much all of the top 10 had a fighting chance for top 3 spots. you guys were all awesome. there were some who didn't even make the list that i thought were exceptional. we have great writers here.

The lying dishonest media will tell you that I didn't have the best story, but I did. I also won the popular vote #fakenews

PUDDLEDUCK!!! Ya rock! Such a good story!

Congrats to everyone else who placed. I'm amazed I got in. I tried to read every entry and was really impressed by a lot of them. Some gems didn't even make the top ten.

Congratulations Puddleduck!

Absolutely amazing story. You've set a standard, again. Well Done!

Kudos to everyone else. I enjoyed every story I read. Fantastic! G

Congrats to Puddleduck, WannabeWordsmith, and LittleDuchess, to the last of whom I'll take a moment to say "Told you so!" Great stories all, and can't argue with a thing on the placement. I knew when I read them that they were going to be up there.

As for the top ten, it's a real honor to be included in that group of outstanding writers. My thanks to Nicola and Lush Stories for holding theses competitions, to the judges (no idea how you decide among so many tremendous entries) and to all of the authors for competing and providing everyone with such great quality entertainment.

Congrats to all, and especially Puddleduck, whose entry I knew was special as soon as I read it.

My reading list just got longer!

Might be a good place to mention that I think it would be great for the main competition page to list the top 10, as here, and not just top 3.

Happy reading!

Sigh.

I think this makes me 0-10 on top-3 placement in competitions now. And it's always my favorites (and best writing) that ends up doing the worst. I don't think my style is made for these things. Or, my paltry talents can't keep up with the site newbies. Which is actually a good thing. I need a long break from writing and LUSH both on account of getting obliterated in chemistry this semester.

In any event. The best did win and I called it first. I knew puddles had it in the bag after the first few paragraphs. She's too damn good. A most well-deserved story especially when she started out not wanting to enter.

I suspected something along those lines, which is why I'm so careful to never walk between the judges and the dartboard.

I assume that my writing is so advanced and wonderful, that its going to need a generation of reads until someone realises it's true brilliance. I'm like the Herman Melville of smut.

Or some shit like that, anyway.

What an amazing and unexpected surprise to place in the top three among such talent. I am honoured and proud. After puddleduck (a surefire winner), I thought browncoffee and Gillianleeeza or VirgoGo or Stormdog or, hell, any of the others in the top 10 had it wrapped up. I think I read pretty much all of them and really enjoyed everyone's take on the photo. Such an excellent idea for a competition.

Thank you especially to Nicola and all the judges, and of course anyone who reads, votes and comments on what I write. Although I write stories I like, without an audience to appreciate them, they'd be way less fun to dream up.

@browncoffee: I totally dedicate my success to you this time around. Without your entry, mine would have been less than half the story it turned out to be. Thank you for being awesome and inspiring me to do better.

Please browse my digital bookshelf. In this collection, you can find 107 full stories, 10 micro-stories, and 2 poems with the following features:

* 29 Editor's Picks, 71 Recommended Reads.
* 15 competition podium places, 9 other times in the top ten.
* 21 collaborations.
* A whole heap of often filthy, tense, hot sex.

I fully agree, Sprite - personally, it was my favourite of the bunch, as well as being one of the best, and most fun, stories I've read in ages.
