Announcing our Small Moments poetry competition

Love isn't always about those grand gestures. Sometimes it's the small moments that mean the most. A look. A touch. Some simple thing you do for someone that means the world to them

We recently lost one of our long-term members who had pretty much perfected the art of poetry. So as a tribute to him, we're running a poetry contest through to Valentine's Day. Lush has two poetry categories, love and erotic, and it's up to you which one you go for.

Entries should be between 50 and 500 words.

Really nice tribute. They weren’t on my radar until admirer I saw forum posts on their passing. Started diving into their work, really amazing how much emotion was conveyed in a few hundred words.

Just to clarify the word limit, I've put a minimum in, so please take note. We had a haiku submitted which has unfortunately been returned now, as we have never published these.

Rachel, I am so sorry to hear this happened. It is unfair and not correct.

You are a fantastic writer, and you know how I feel about the Anti Valentine winner, "Ellie." IMHO the single best competition story I have read here. That story's structure has inspired me on more than one occasion, the twist being so unexpected and yes, weird. 😳

Then there was your 2nd placed "Glitch," which was excellent too; just reread my review.

As some know, for the last few story competitions, I have read and commented on every story entered. What they might not know is that privately, I also give a mark to each story, and I can tell you (in my personal results) that "Glitch" was right up there with the winner and WW's. This has nothing to do with Lush; it is nothing to do with anyone being a moderator... it is just me having a little fun and enjoying reading good stories.

Please don't stop doing competitions, Rachel... We/I will miss reading your entries. 😘

Been trying to write a poem and failing so far. Unfortunately I recently blew my poetry load on something I’m proud of, but already published. Ah well, have a few more weeks to eak out some inspiration.

Mine is at the 'two A4 pages of scribbling and crossing out' stage. Hang in there Rowan.

I tried a couple ideas today but the one I am currently pursuing is only at a dozen lines. It is also dangling on the line between the two poetry categories. Romantic enough for Love Poems but pretty erotic, too. Assuming I stick with it and don't have another idea.
