Myths And Legends Competition

As we enter into the 'darker half' of the year, we want to stretch your imagination with our "Myths and Legends" competition.

Myths are a form of folklore more commonly associated with the supernatural. Tales are often about the origins of something, with characters being gods or demigods, or other supernatural beings.

Legends, on the other hand, are usually tales of an ordinary person doing such extraordinary things that it can’t always be explained without the use of miracles or magic.

Competition Theme

We want to read thrilling and sexy stories of adventure, magic and mystery. Perhaps your story will include elements of the supernatural, such as amulets, witchcraft, spells, haunted buildings or reincarnation. Or will your characters possess traits that might seem more than human to some, such as telekinesis, immortality or the ability to heal?

Our Myths & Legends contest is all about happenings which have left, or will leave such a mark that the stories will be told for years after, perhaps passed down through generations, or told around a campfire.

Let your imagination run wild over your keyboards and get the blood pumping with your erotic tales.

As a challenge to writers, we're limiting stories to 5,000 words for this contest. Please keep to that word limit or under or your story will be rejected.

What is the policy on using an existing narrative framework to apply the myths and legends theme? Stuff like King Arthur, Roanoke Colony, Paul Bunyan, Cthulhu Mythos (it's in the public domain) or other pagan/pseudopagan myths, such as Olympus or Valhalla?

I'm not saying that my story idea features a personified Atlantis being gangbanged by deep ones and it results in the island/city sinking, or Paul Bunyan hosting an orgy on the Cornucopia, just that I had those ideas and thought they were horrible, but am wondering on if they would be viable entries for the theme.

Edit: if you think those ideas aren't horrible and want to use them, go ahead.

Thank you! This weekend was probably my only chance as I have to change about 1,000 programs over the next month at work. I had a brainstorm. Or maybe it was a brain fart. Anyways, I got one submitted. When you are struggling writing, write what you know ... so I did. Definitely a "me" story. But, happy to participate nonetheless. Now, I can sit back and enjoy the amazing entries yet to come.
