Imagine if your SO were to walk in while you were in your full glory during a hot cyber session. Would they smile and join you or scream and throw something?
If you think it would most likely be the second choice it's cheating.

Yes, I believe to some extent, it is cheating. Even though you aren't having a physical relationship, you are putting forth effort to talk about sexual objectives. Besides, a cyber relationship is practically having sex with that person (just doing it online rather than do it physically).

NO, NO, NO, NO! Cheating is physical contact, feelings, emotions and very real implications. Playing out fantasy scenes with virtual strangers, looking at porn, daydreaming erotic thoughts, etc. etc. is NOT the same thing. Must say that I'm disappointed with the prudish attitude displayed by so many lush members, the comments read like they're right out of the religious right's playbook to take us back to the Dark Ages.

So, you completely discount the idea that an emotional connection can be formed over the internet? I find it extremely humourous and small-minded that you immediately assume everyone who doesn't share your viewpoint is a prudish person with ties, or at least similarities, to the religious right. Your brash generalization and condemnation of anyone who doesn't share your view seems far more similar to the religious right's playbook than anything else I've seen on this thread.

I agree. On a personal note, I do find it as cheating.

I have said before, and will cotinue to say, I don't care if you are on the internet, or hiding in the bathroom jacking off, or just lusting after pictures in some magazine or catalog. I don't care if you're just kvetching to an outside party about something your partner did. If you have to hide it from your partner, or if you have to deny doing it, that constitutes cheating.

jacking off, lusting at pictures, bitching at....

i think there are different definitions of cheating being discussed.

or that's a joke i don't get.

My point was if you are doing something either sexually or emotionally that you have to hide from your partner, whatever you are doing constitutes cheating.

ok say your partner disapproves of your spending habits. you just love buying some kind of nonsense that they don't like.

or anything like that.
there are things people keep private ie hide in a relationship. all people. fact of life.

that's not the same as cheating which to me means adultery.

and to you means... a lot more than that. or less.

depends on the rules. if your partner knows about it and has given you their blessing. no. if you are lying about it, then yes. it's that simple. i'm not judging, btw, but it's pretty much black and white.

This.

and doing it behind my significant other has always left me feeling guilty and cheap.

I concur with Sprite, it would be cheating if you have to lie about it!
