Which shampoo do you use??

Just curious if people change as often as I do. I used to use Pantene quite religiously but then had my head (hair?) turned by a random new brand (it was heavy on argan oil, RRP £10.99 but I got it for £1.99!!) I kind of bought the entire shelf but then it finished and I tried Schwarzkopf which was terrible and made me use twice the usual amount of conditioner. Anyway, the other day I bought Garnier and it seems pretty good so far. I've never been near Head and Shoulders or TRESemme. I used to like Herbal Essences but only really for the smell.

Anyway, what kind do you use? How long have you been using it and how often do you change? And do you have to buy specifically for your hair type?

My hair isn't fussy. smile For a splurge I'll use Garnier, but most of the time it's just bargain brand Suave. Tried Herbal Essences a while ago but it wasn't as fragrant as I remembered.

Just regular Head & Shoulders shampoo, though the one that I'm currently using has almond oil in it. Dandruff can be problematic for me and my hair isn't exactly long enough to benefit from any of the fortifying/volumizing/shining features of high-end shampoos. My hair is in fact much similar to how Ryan Reynolds had his while filming the movie Deadpool: buzz-cut on the sides and just long enough on top to apply some putty whenever I seek a more stylish look (which is actually most of the time and only requires 2 minutes or so). I cut my own hair with a clipper once every 2-3 weeks, by the way; free tips available on request.

I change shampoo all the time, too, fam! Although the one I like at the moment is Herbal Essence, which makes my hair smell like pomegranate.

I've been coloring my hair since I was 11, so I know a thing or two about keeping hair healthy and color vibrant. Tigi Bed head has always made great shampoos and conditioners but my favorites are:

Do you use leave in conditioners?

If you found a conditioner you love, you can use it as a hair mask 10mins before you shower.

Like you, I've experimented with many different brands - sometimes for the scent or price, although I've dabbled in expensive shampoos (don't feel like it makes much of a difference in quality, honestly). The type of hair products I use are always the most hydrating line/variation I can find, unless it's summer and I'm going with a salt spray for beachy waves.

My holy grail since high school is the Pantene Sleek & Smooth line. I always go back to this one. It's the only shampoo/conditioner that leaves my hair like absolute silk every time.



In recent years, I've also enjoyed the Garnier Coconut Water line (smells amazing, but for pure hydration, Pantene is still better). I've still bought this one for a change up more than once.



Post shampoo treatment is just as important as the type of shampoo for me.

The one I use before blow drying that I absolutely LOVE is the Drybar Prep Rally detangling spray. I've used many detanglers and leave in conditioners, but I can't live without this one. It doesn't weigh hair down but just takes my hair to another level.



And then... my fave finishing oil is the Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. I've been using this for at least ten years and it's perfect. At times I've used Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil and Drybar's 100 Proof and they're very good, but I love how light the Aveda one is.

My girlfriend actually started buying bottles of Head & Shoulders for me to use when I shower at her place. At first I thought that she did this out of pure love and consideration toward me, but soon realized that the little scoundrel was simply tired of me constantly wasting her oh-so-expensive coconut shampoo just to wash my head and pubic hair.

The naive romantic in me is getting more and more disillusioned with each passing day spent as her lover.

On a more serious note, I actually had long wavy Eddie Vedder-esque hair in my early adulthood (around 20-year-old). And I mention Eddie Vedder among all that plentiful history of long-haired musicians because my first girlfriend happened to be an enormous fan of Pearl Jam and I mostly grew/maintained that haircut at her own [s]sexual coercion[/s] demand. I remember using Garnier Fructis shampoo/conditioner quite a lot back in those days and it always seemed to keep my hair looking very nice and healthy.

I will laugh, because that is what I use too! Pretty much the entirety of my toiletries is Suave products. Cheap, and I don't have that much hair anyway.

I generally alternate between Head And Shoulders and Pantene, but we'll buy whatever's on sale too. Suave and Herbal Essences find their way into the shower as frequently as any other. You don't need to spend a ton of money to find a decent shampoo. From time to time I need to use Neutrogena T/Gel. Not the sweetest smelling product but it has its purpose, unfortunately.

like many of you, i don't put too much stock into shampoo. it doesn't stay on my hair long enough to justify the splurge. back in the day when i was really particular, i loved pantene. i've never cared for fruity scented hair products. pantene has a distinct clean smell that i still adore and immediately recognize.

these days i reach for a clarifying shampoo:



coincidently, i first started using this shampoo to clean my makeup brushes. i used it in a pinch and it's become a staple.



this is another clarifying shampoo that i like because it has extra 'slip'. i use it when deep conditioning isn't convenient.

i had used "aussie mega" for the longest time (since high school). this was mostly due to that's what my family used growing up. but... after a long weekend at walt disney world last summer, i'm hooked on "h20+ (eucalyptus & aloe)" - the scent feels clean when applied and rinsed - and makes me smile. the h20+ products are DEF more pricey than aussie, but... i pretend i'm worth it

It's formulated for curly hair and it doesn't lather, which was a total mindfuck when I first started using it a few years ago, especially combined with the fact that it has the same consistency as a hair conditioner. I actually put it down for months before trying it again when I ran out of my other shampoos.

Now I occasionally try other shampoos when I want to accomplish different things with my hair, but No-Poo is definitely a staple in my collection of hair products.

I have pretty long hair these days, which is very fine and very thick. My mother had straight hair and my dad tight curls; I have the resulting hybrid.

Yup. Good stuff, and inexpensive.

It doesn't make sense to me to spend money on the high-end salon brands when you're literally going to wash it down the drain. Now, leave-in products, those I'll spend money on. Recently discovered Ouai Rose Hair & Body oil. Smells good, and leaves my fine but thick hair nice and shiny and most importantly, behaving itself. I still use the Sebastian leave-in product, probably out of habit more than anything else.

I change among well-known brands I can find in the supermarket. Usually L'oreal, Pantene, sometimes Garnier, Tresemme. I buy shampoos that are specifically for curly hair, or if not available the one that seems will hydrate more. Or, if my hair is dyed at the moment, for dyed hair.

My last one was L'oreal for dyed hair.

I have more than half of the bottle in the bathroom but had a keratin treatment last week, so I'm using the shampoo and conditioner free of salt recommended by the hairdresser. It's from a brand I had never heard of before: Kativa.
