Ummm...

Having the pearl positioned right above the clit seems like overkill. Not to mention the missed opportunity for a great metaphor...

Looking for some advice.

My nails have a pretty good shape so I normally keep them fairly short. Every once in a while I get a notion to grow them, but they're really bad for just getting super dry and splitting when they get to a certain length.

I don't want to just layer on polish. Does anyone have any recommendations for strengthening nails so they don't split? Have you found a product/cream that works for you?

Thanks in advance

Spray-On Nailpolish

Is this the dumbest invention ever, or do you think this is going to catch on?

It looks so unnecessarily messy, a waste of product and I'll bet the fumes aren't too pretty either. Some people seem excited about it though.

just saw this - i actually get joy from painting my nails - it's meditative in a way - why would i want to take that away by spraying them? i'm guessing a guy invented this. biggrin

massaging luke warm coconut oil into them 2-3 times a day for 5 minutes or so should help. also, don't use hand sanitizer that contain alchohol.

Yes, the Trind system, often recommended to people transitioning from acrylic nails as well. It's very good. Ive used it (usually for a couple of weeks at a time) and it does work. I still use the Nail and Cuticle Balsam on a fairly regular basis when my nails need a bit of extra TLC, especially in the winter. You can buy it as a kit in a variety of places.

If you ladies would permit a man's view here...

I guess I'm kind of a traditionalist when it comes to women's fingernails - I like them red (some shade of red) or natural. I like French manicures - natural nails with white tips - too. I like them all red - don't throw in a silver one, gold one, or whatever. I also don't go in for decorations, embellishments or "nail jewelry".

As for length, somewhere between a quarter-inch and a half inch past the fingertip works for me. Oh, and no cat claws or daggers - I like to be scratched, not cut open!

There may occasionally be an exception to the above but not very many!

My

Thanks Rach/Ash. I have coconut oil in the house, so I'll start with that, and I can get the Trind bottles on Amazon if needed. Much appreciated
I'd love to have plain lacquered nails, but given that in a single shift I probably wash my hands 50+ times, plus alcohol foam/gel applications, the lacquer just can't hold up to the constant abuse of the natural nail.

I've had short, gel (shellac) nails for almost two years now, and they both look good and function well. My natural nails grow really fast, so I have to have fills about every 7 days, but if your nails don't grow crazy fast, and you're not bent on keeping them as short as I keep mine (mind you, I'm not a scrub or circulating nurse anymore, so I don't have to scrub for surgery), you could probably go two weeks or more between fills.

Colours I like are all by OPI: the Hello Kitty (don't laugh!) collection ("Look At My Bow!" and "Starry-Eyed For Dear Daniel"); the classics ("Pompeii Purple" and "I'm Not Really A Waitress Red"); and my new favourite, "Madam President". All are blue-pinks or blue-reds.

Anyway. Point being, sometimes you have to give up on natural.

Also try vitamin E both as an oral supplement (sprite's gonna jump on that) and also massage into the nails and around the cuticle...as an added touch find Vit E that smells of vanilla or coconuts

tis the season?

i love black manis in the winter. however, i keep it simple with a glossy or matte finish sans design. these are a few i think i could actually 'live' with. i'd probably only do two designs per hand, though.
