I just think they are incognito and don't want their boss, parents, children, siblings, co-workers, clients, neighbors, and so forth, knowing that they read & write sex stories. Lush is a great escape from the other world, where you can meet and make new friends and share things that you are uncomfortable sharing with the people I mentioned. I've made wonderful friends here on Lush with many people that I have never seen their face.
Happy Lushing!
I think they are being private, protecting themselves, and being cautious.

I think that they don't want pics up and it's their prerogative to do so. This is a sexually charged ADULT social site, not Facebook. Most people choose to remain anonymous for a reason.

I don't like it, it leaves me guessing and I don't like to guess. I understand some people can't for particular reasons, but I like to be able to see people. I think it makes it easier to make a connection with them. I like to see people's faces and their smiles! It's not that I don't like them or trust them it's just nice to see them.
i get to know people well enough to trust them before they see pix of me - get your minds out of the gutter, i don't do nudes. anyone can post a picture - doesn't mean it's them. i don't really care. i care more about the people behind the picture. that's just me. if someone doesn't trust me based on me having an avatar as opposed to a photo on an adult web site, that's fine with me - can't say i blame them.
btw, that photo over there? *points to avatar* not me. looks very similar to me, but it's not, in case anyone was curious.
You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.
I think those people, for the most part, are just trying to protect themselves. Like others have said, this is a nice escape from the "real world" and lots of people probably don't want to be found here. It took me a long time to post a photo of myself, and even now I protect the photos I do post. Only a few, very trusted friends have access to them.
i trust 'em just fine - or at least much as anyone else here. after all, how many people who message me are using actual pics of themselves? (i have to assume there are only so many calvin klein models on lush at any given time).
but...
i do find the whole, "i can't be bothered to upload anything, but please send me pictures of your boobs" vibe a little annoying. lazy, i say - lazy!!!!
It does not bother me. Lush is more about fantasy than reality. Imagining what people actually look like can be fun. I chose to put a real pic of myself up for all to see. I'm not in the least bit concerned that people who know me might find out that I read and write erotica. My real name is on here too now. In for a penny, in for a pound.
I don't post face pics for privacy. A friend I made here ran into his boss's daughter. He closed his account fast..lol

I'm not bothered about what you look like, I'm more interested in what you have to say. This is not my reality, its my place to indulge in others erotic work and I truly appreciate it too.
I'm a Fire Chief in a small town that does EMS and Fire it's not the PR. my Department would want.
I personally don't care. Put pictures up or not. I have to admit though that I like putting a face to the text. I like having an accurate mental image of the person I am talking to. What bothers me is when people present themselves as someone they are not, as in sending or showing pictures that are NOT them and claiming it IS them. And that happens a lot more often here on LUSH than some might think, and chances are one or two of YOUR friends is not really the person you have grown to trust, like, and maybe even a bit more. Some might not have a problem with that, but I do, and I know others who do as well.
I'll talk to someone no matter what there pictures depict but I do get kind of suspicious when someone doesn't have a single picture up, even a fake one off the net...
Not having YOUR picture as your AV doesn't bother me at all, But leaving it to the generic red face does. I understand you wanting your privacy but it would be nice if you at least posted a pic that depicted something about you. Like maybe a cat if you are a cat lover, a surfer if you surf or maybe a woman in handcuffs if your into bondage, etc. And no guys, that doesn't mean a generic cock if you think you have a big one, LOL!
But I do get upset when a person leaves their profile totally blank. It would nice to know something about them, likes and dislikes, etc. I don't think that is too much to ask for!
I will chat with or friend a person because we connect and not because of their AV.
that they r ugly and doing us a favor by hiding it
It doesn't bother me too much. I do wish there was something for a avatar but then I hate when a guy puts a girls picture up even if he is not pretending to be a girl. It just gets confusing. And I hate when a picture is used that doesn't represent that person at all.
I got a request to chat from a 61 year old man the other night but he had a picture of man in his late teens or early 20s as his profile picture.
Lush is about fantasy, but I don't like confusion.
