I don't feel there's an up or downside. Its not even a requirement to put your real name on your profile, so its just your choice. I have my real name, and as of 11/3/2019, that's my real picture.
The only picture of me on my profile is of my backside. My profile name is a derivative of my real name...and FYI, it is not Edward.
Yes, I have used pics of myself as an avatar image, but I am cautiously selective, don't reveal too much of who I am. Most all my avatars are music related.
So all my fans know. Or my admires know. The avatar on my main photo and those showing me in my bra etc. including my wet shaved pussy, is of me. Those are my real photos of me. That is not another female, that is what I look like, I am ashamed of nothing.8SHP58YRWEKulzLM
i just decided to not worry about it and use my real Pic.
Needless to say, my avatar is not me. I generally don't want to be that "public" in my online activities, even on boards where I could be (this is not one of those). The Internet being what it is, I would generally counsel not to use a real pic anywhere (even FB). Even Beffer, much as I appreciate her lovely presence here.
Should l use the frontal face shot or the profile shot from my post office pictures?
I've snuck mine in from time to time (I even started this thread, back in the day). I think my current avatar better reflects my true nature.
I use my actual pic but obviously only part of my face. It's mainly to protect my privacy but I did want to show in a real person...sounds weird but oh well.
My husband asked me not to use real pics of me outside work. For many years I was Mrs Weasel whenever I wasn't the real me. My avatar was always a weasel, including here. At a friend's suggestion I became a lady in red, and another friend called me Grace. Last summer my husband took a shot of me woking on his computer and said I could use it. I was about to go back to my regular avatar when some asshole said it was disgusting and made him sick. Good. My avatar is still me.
Well, it is how I see myself in the mirror (on the good days, at least).
Coincidentally, this generic avatar looks just like me, so I went with it. My bet is that about 20% of those that claim to use self portraits as avatars do not. Lots of dudes pose as dudettes on the internet. Not pointing fingers.
My avatar is a picture of me in stockings and green panties.
My avatar is me. Not a face pic but it is a sentimental photo. The photos in my Image gallery are of me.
There is always a chance someone will come up to you at Starbucks and say "Hey loved that nude pic on Lush!" But since everyone is honest about who they are and where they live how is that a possibility.
Having posted pictures of myself on a site that supposedly was protect, but was not; and then finding my pictures in other places, I am reluctant to use my own pictures here.
the upside is that it is one less thing to lie about lol
downside is if you write something that should not leave here
