Agreed can't say much more than that, really. Now let's see someone put forward an etymological argument for "jif". Also on the AVI thing I pronounce the individual letters.

Well I've never "heard" it called anything LOL! But since these are .gif files according to the computer, then gif is what I would go with. Just like .com .jpg .net etc.
