I have been patted down so often I could not possibly estimate how often. In every case, it has been a female and more often than not it was caused by a metal support in my bra.
The only garment I have been asked to remove is an over-garment such as a coat.
Yep. Taking my father in law's ashes to Romania to be be spread in the Danube caused some delay at customs. Good thing I had checked before we went and had all the proper paperwork.
In Mexico, they have a system that's pretty clever. It's red light, green light. If you get the green, you're good. If you get red, your luggage is searched. At least that's how it used to be. I made the mistake of joking "why is it always me?" (hahaha...) Yeah, no. And I know better! Oh well. Just took us a little longer to get a cab.

If been patted down, that's kinda routine, but never strip searched. It's not all that common, tbh. However, if you have genital piercings you should expect to show them your goods.

Yeah, they can't open the box. If you have them in an urn, it's opaque. You did the right thing getting the paperwork. Many people don't realize they have to do that.

Yes I have on the funniest occasion I was the last person off a boat back from Europe blind drunk. I had double everything as far as duty free that was allowable, they completely gave me the full work over before letting me through even though I was well over limits everything as it was before they stopped me. The only reason they gave me the benifit was becuause the fact I told them they belonged to friends behind me even though I was the last off. The next morning at home I found the cigarettes in the fridge and the booze on the doorstep along with my milk.

I am an educator, so my philosophy is always to be prepared. Having been on many international trips, I am quite aware how thorough the TSA and Customs can be. It is aggravating and frustrating, but I don't mind. I had rather be safe than sorry. The more challenging thing on this trip was trying to corral my very active twin sons.

They can open anything that they question. The paperwork will certainly help, but it's not full proof.

100% they will turn it away. They won't open an urn, proper paperwork is required to get thru security

When going through security, in addition to your airline documents and personal ID, show the Death Certificate, Certificate of Cremation, other funeral related documentation and attach a copy to the container or urn.

Having traveled in and out of Mexico hundreds of times over the years, I have had my suitcase opened several times, and of course the car searched.

Once going into Mexico the Mexican customs gave me a rough time. When I got to my destination I found my travelers checks, (this was many years ago) which had been in my suitcase, (I know, stupid) were missing. I only had a very small amount of money for several days until a friend wired me some.

And once I went there with a friend who had never been there before. When we were returning my comadre asked me if I could give a ride to the friend of a neighbor. This was also many years ago, before you needed a passport to return to the US. When we got to the border the woman presented her papers, and the officer, who seemed to be waiting for her, immediately took her into custody. My friend and I were put into separate rooms and stripped searched. And I mean we were nude and our clothing was gone over carefully. When we were released I asked about the woman and was told to forget about her.

It was now late at night, and we were zipping north on the freeway when I noticed the car had overheated. We luckily found a closed service station, but were still able to get water. I said this was long ago, when water was still free. It appeared they had drained the radiator and hadn't filled it back up. My friend never went to Mexico again.

Got searched at Gatwick coming back from Amsterdam once. Probably because myself and my traveling companion smelled like Lemon Haze and Moroccan Hash.

Not 100 percent. I know

A couple of times, but it was never anything interesting. My Lebanese traveling companion gets stopped every time she tries to leave or enter the U.S. though, and sometimes that's apparently been enough of a problem that she's missed flights.

How is it that you know? I've been in the Airline industry for 24 years. They must be scannable. Opaque containers, cannot, under any circumstances, be opened

Perhaps once but it was more of a skim-over in my lugguage.

However I did receive a letter from customs saying they had seized a mail-order copy of Cannibal Holocaust that I tried to get about 15 years ago.

Sound's like someone working for the TSA wanted it. I can't imagine how a book can be dangerous. Did you report it?

Yes, a couple of times. Only the pat-down over the clothing, never the full strip search, but one female officer did take her time and managed to find most of my sensitive areas during her search.
Yes.
yes i have, a couple of times.
Yes, when visiting US.
Yup, and trying to have fun and fuck with the people is never a good idea lol
Once in Russia. I understood every third or fourth word, so I was just like whatever, do your thing. Otherwise, just shoe removal.
Yes, totally non sexual.
Twice...both times by US Customs on entering the USA from Canada...and I'm an American living in Canada.
Been across several international borders, including Vietnam, Malaysia, US/Canada, New Zealand and home to Australia and passed every time. Unexciting...
By US customs multiple times, once an hour long interrogation; I don't know what it is, I just seem to set them off. I've never been hassled by customs any where else and the only other hassle I got was from Canadian immigration once.
