You mention that these tactics aren't working, so maybe I can suggest another approach. You want people to read and support your writing, but do you do that for other authors on Lush? I checked your profile and you have neither the commentator nor the electorate badge and you've been a member for almost 1 1/2 years, so it doesn't look like you do much reading here. Sounds like you want to be taken seriously as a writer, so why wouldn't you support other writers here? Maybe read their stories and comment and, in kind, they'll do the same for you. Not only will you have fellow writers reading your stuff, but some of them are even bombshells (especially Buz; he's a hottie. ) Also, you might learn a thing or two about writing, because there are some amazing writers here. I know, I've have quite a few of them as friends.

I've read more stories than I have posted. If someone in my friends list asks me to read something I do it. I rarely leave a comment. And I won't vote if it will lower their over all score. I'm nice like that. But I do most of the time message the writer of the story and tell them what I liked about the story and maybe give some advice. One read of any story I write and it would be obvious that I don't mess around. Even a story about the most silliest of topics, i make sure it is a meaningful and entertaining story. I'm writing a sex story just for this site. It is about gingerbread man. Lol you imagine a lush story about a ginerbread man. Well it is happening and all because a shylass asked for it. Now what would show you that a person was a sincere person? Them posting a like comment and a 5 vote on a story? Or that person writing a story just for you and not just a shit story a good story that others will enjoy reading also?

One thing is being polite and respectful. I have had people ask and I didn't accept because it was like "Hey lets be friends and fuck" That would a No. The people I approach it is because I have watched them in the forums, read their stories and have a feeling they would be a cool person to friend and then they can PM me when they have a story or about a subject. The handful of people I chat with I do it because we have built up a trust and they are nice, interesting and understand boundaries. They also usually have full offline lives and aren't needy. I have asked and been turned down but it doesn't bother me because I put my Lush life in perspective. I did have one person get pissed off when I couldn't chat and he called me a Dumb Bitch so I had to block him. What I am learning is that many women here have had bad friend experiences and are wary. So be decent and cool and usually I think a woman would be receptive. I always check a profile before accepting too.
My other point is it depends on why someone wants to be friends. I have friends that just chat about life, music or need some support in something in their lives. I have friends who like to talk about their offline relationship. Some about writing. One about food, art and restaurants. Some are flirty and funny. But all are very kind, supportive, respectful, intelligent and awesome.
