In Shakespear's time, "slut" or "Sluttish" meant dirty, disorganized, messy and in general disorganized. In Mercucio's famous speech about dreams, sluttish meant tangled and nappy from having been slept on. For a while, sluttish was used to describe the general nature of anyone who had just woken up or just gotten out of bed. The term sluttish was later associated with the word "Slattern" or a dirty woman; a prostitute. A woman who walked out of a house looking as if she had just gotten out of bed (Hey-O!) was called "Sluttish" and eventually just a slut.

I think its intent is derogatory as there is no male equivalent, but speaking for those of us who fit the commonly held usage, I couldn't care less what society thinks of me.

Depending on who is throwing the word around, I often wear it like a comfortable old t-shirt.
For me, growing up, "slut" was a very negative word. I only heard it used when someone was using it in a judgemental way, as in: "She's a real slut," or, "What a slut she is."
Times have changed a lot. The only time I don't have a problem with it is when it is used between two people who are either great friends or lovers. I have even said, "Let me be your little slut tonight." to my lover. That always brings very favorable results. Seems to toss out making love and initiates hard fucking. Maybe that sums it up.

I honestly believe everbody has a little inner slut in them. It also depends on the way the word is said to another person. Honestly being called a slut during sex only makes me wetter.

In general, it's a word, so I dont care for being called a slut by random people, as for in sex/sexual interactions, if I'm acting slutty/ want to be treated like a slut, dont see what the issue would be,if anything, I find it tto be a turn on for me.
