I once wrote THE most horribly graphic scene in the world. Looking back on it i feel really disgusted that i actually had the nerve to write it AND attempt to have it published on here. I am so happy that it was rejected because otherwise i would have seemed like the biggest freak in the world.
Tbh, i think everyone writes stuff that they later regret. Don't sweat it.

I have to say I can relate to what you said. I think you need to relax a bit, you are too hard on yourself.

Q1: I was ashamed of my first story, scared of what people would think but then after I managed to muster enough courage to publish them and after the comments I received, I felt really happy and proud and this got me to write my 2nd story the next day itself. It took me more than 1 year to dare to publish something on Lush. I took 6months to write my first story.

Q2: Once I started to get positive feedback, I started to write more and I found my writing improving and the ideas become more organised and clear in my mind. When I was writing my first story, I was always confused.

Q3: My 2nd story got rejected because I had broken one of the rules and I made the necessary corrections to it and it was approved. If you really want your story to be published, make the needed corrections and take your time. There's no point in rushing and it's not bad to make silly mistakes smile It's not as bad as you think to have a story rejected, I'm sure many people face this. :)

Write for yourself or for fun, don't worry about others. Your first story may not be great but you'll improve gradually. Take your time, if you get disgusted or stressed, stop and save it and continue later when you feel like it. Never write when you feel tensed!

Thank you very much for sharing.

I suppose it's like I tell the new seamstresses that come into our shop needing fabrics, "If you start getting frustrated, stop and have some cake. That'll do it.".

I do feel a lot better about it, thank you. I am now happy gently pushing my own little boundaries, rather than trying to stretch out to reach other peoples'.

Don't try and please others and take the fun out of writing what you like. The people that read the stories you enjoy writing are the people you should be concerned about. I'd take criticism from people that enjoyed other stories of mine but didn't like others before that of people who ultimately just don't get me.
