Who is your favorite actor to play James Bond?

For me it's Pierce, I think he nailed the whole James Bond persona quite honestly. He really hit the bulls eye. Sean and Roger were really close, but Pierce was perfect. Too bad he was only in 4 movies, but I suppose there is still time. Fingers crossed.

If you've read the books, none of the actors have captured the essential James Bond character in looks, attitude, or behavior, in my opinion.

Anyway.... I agree that Pierce personified the ultimate gentleman spy, lacking in the physical aspects of course. I think my favorite was Roger Moore because it was so funny, his villains were good too. The best combo was Connery, swagger plus physicality. Pierce was like roger in that it was cheeky and a very self aware performance. The most realistic is the new dude though, daniel craig. He seems like the only one that actually looks like he could kick some ass.

Sean set the bar, and in my opinion is the best Bond, but I like all the movies. I would put Pierce and second.

I like Daniel Craig and Connery. Its hard to compare them. It's like comparing Adam West and Christian Bale. I love them both in such different ways.

Agreed. There's bits and pieces of Fleming's Bond in each but each also brought their own flavour to the role so that Connery Bond is very much Connery, not Fleming, and so on. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the movies even though I am a big fan of Fleming's orignals. Then again, I found that Gardner and Benson Bond (the 1980s and 90s novels) strayed away from Fleming Bond on some levels, too but I did enjoy some of them (some, but not all). In fact, the only post-Fleming Bond that came close to Fleming was the Kingsley Amis one-shot Colonel Sun (written under the pseudonym Robert Markham).

IMHO, an actor is going to bring his or her own flair to any role they play (or should). Each Movie Bond has been his own thing and I prefer some to others even as I do love the series overall. Connery is my favorite, Lazenby is my least (though OHMSS is a good 007 movie otherwise) with Dalton, Brosnan, and Moore lining up in between. My movie watching has been sporadic in recent years so I haven't seen Craig yet but like what I've heard about him.

First movie 007 movie I saw was Goldeneye and I haven't seen any older ones. I guess I should watch them one day but I dislike the new Bond movies. I liked the Pierce Brosnan movies better. Liked his sly humour in his 007 movies, and just the movies overall compared to Daniel Craig's 007 movies.
