I tolerated Moore in the role, but I was relieved when he was replaced. I have every one of the Bond films on DVD and I hardly ever watch any of the Moore ones.

I liked Moore but he did start to lose his appeal at the very end, hence the new dark haired Timothy. I think Sam would've made a great Bond too. Oh well it doesn't matter because Daniel is doing a grand job

My opinion as I have read all of the original writings of Ian Flemming is a tie between Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig. Bond was not a pretty boy or jokester, he was a rugged and many times cold professional. I usually put Roger Moore up there with George Lezenby and Peter Sellers. A funny piece of trivia is that when the original black and white BBC broadcast of Casino Royale in the early fifties with Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre used an American actor in the title role, Barry Nelson.

You do realize that there are two franchise characters who will never be played by Americans as long as the Union Jack is still flying? James Bond and Dr. Who. The British are fiercely protective of those two. I personally can think of several Americans who could fit those parts but it wouldn't fly. Harry Potter would be a third but the series is finished for now so it isn't likely to be a concern and Rowling has enough clout that he'll stay British as long as she is still breathing.
And Goldblum, to my mind, is more Dr. Who material than Bond. A little too quirky for Bond.

Sean Connery is the original and the standard, all those other hacks don't even come close. Why do you think they used Mr. Connery's voice in the From Russia With Love video game? Coincidence, HELL NO!!!
