I currently own a soccer mom mini van, but before we had kids I owned a black 4 wheel drive Toyota Tacoma pickup, back before they got all big and tricked out. The tires and suspension were a little beefed up, nothing crazy. It was as agile as a mountain goat, and I took it DEEP into the Utah Canyonlands and the Rockies. I watched a lot of drive in movies from the bed of that truck.
